G531, G543 and XR558 on PN's 9048 Deniliquin Grain- 28/6/24

Video from the evening of the 28th of June 2024 and after going the whole year to the end of May without a PN train through Bendigo we've now had two in a month with another Deniliquin load running as 9049 from North Geelong and returning as 9048 with power provided by G531, G543 and XR558 which we catch at Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat.
For XR558, this was only the second actual freight move it had made all year, the unit having been parked up for most of the last eight months at North Geelong Yard.

9048- G531, G543 and XR558

Nice catch in the wee hours young Brad. Went out for three trains this arvo and only got one, Pacific National intermodal cancelled out of Goobang, 6BA3 ex Adelaide 30 minutes early and gave away SCT 4PG1 over seven hours late. One better than none eh? At 3:47 I see a level crossing flashing behind the train, they should have cleared the crossing before pulling up for relief formalities. Nice to see an "XR" again too.

Thanks Dave, been rather quiet up here in decent hours of late- plenty of SSR trips to Woorinen and Piangil but they're all through around 02:00. I'm certainly not keen on getting out of bed in the cold at that hour just to film them.
Nice Brad. Been a while since you caught a Pac-Nat grainy though there with 40 bulks swinging behind. Thanks again.

Sure was, this was the first of three within a week so been a good few nights for us here. Probably be another month at least before the next ones now.
I saw XR558 a few weeks ago on a light engibe

Was taken to GEMCO at South Dynon briefly. Probably a check-over before returning to use.

Long time ago Deniliquin Grain used to through Echuca - Toolamba line and I really think the Eaglehawk to Ingelwood line should to reopen to let Deniliquin Grain to Maryborough Line to Ballarat to Meredith line to Geelong is quicker than going through Melbourne to use North Geelong Port.

Definitely going to be slower going Bendigo-Inglewood-Dunolly with two reversals in the trip. One in Bendigo Yard to even access the Eaglehawk-Inglewood line and then again at Inglewood to head back south. It was used as a diversionary route during the RFR works in 2005, only because it was the only way to get to Bendigo at the time and not for speed.

Cool their heels... they should be on the phone to traffic control yelling and screaming - get my train moving!!!!!!!!!!!!
