I love how when Joe sings he makes them sound like a weekend bar band.
Best G3 lineup ever. Their styles are so different, yet their chemistry is unmatched. All of them were at their absolute peak at this point in their careers and you can hear it.

I couldn't agree more, BUT... Joe and Steve were bad mouthing Eric after he left: for arguably not being an energetic performer and not willing to hang out with them backstage. Lost their best guy!

@@martimdesouzajunior7585 I mean, you can't turn obviously quiet and low-key type of guy into a rock star per demand... I used to perceive Eric as the least interesting one in that G3 lineup, mainly due to his quiet demeanor and non-assertive playing style. Now, many years and many albums later, I find him to be the best one out of three and one of my absolute favorite players in general. His glassy clean sound is unmatched, and his creamy distorded sound is hevenly. And on top of ll that, he can also sing. What a musician!

Sounded just as good as when Freddie done it!
I love watching Eric just sitting back being as cool as you like. Then just kicking out some raw blues to just say "chaps, that's how it's done haha". Seriously though I love all these players.

I've not listened to much of these artists before. But EJ's 'less is more' was head and shoulders above the other two, especially for a blues song like this
@kevinstiff8681

@@jarrodgeikie870 you may think so but if you ask the other two, they will tell you, Eric is the one carrying them. They know they can’t hold his jock. And if you’ve ever listened to any of their interviews, they both say it as a matter of fact, they have even walked off stage because they couldn’t keep up. Eric can do them both but they cannot do Eric. His level of respect is unmatched and they will tell it to your face. Ask me how I know.

I always wondered why Eric’s songs were different in the DVD than the CD. My guess was to show a combination of 3 songs from his newest record, Venus isle at the time. That’s just my theory

Don't forget Leon Russell who wrote the song for Freddie. "From his 1971 record, "Getting Ready," which was largely written and produced by Leon Russell and features Duck Dunn on bass. Russell wrote "Going Down," as part of an attempt to introduce Freddie to more of a "rock audience" through this record."
My favorite guitar heroes on earth ! I love how it starts at 0:14 Satch face when the harmonic rises as a surprise !!!! Maybe he thinks « oh god I thought I would never reach it, but finally it looks f***king good !!!!!!!!! »
Great song this one!
See you in the spring Satch and thank you Gentlemen Awesome!

I saw & reviewed G3 (Vai, Petrucci, Satriani) at Melbourne's Palais Theatre a few years back. An awesome night of guitar mastery. Given where we're at right now, I count myself fortunate indeed to have witnessed such an impressive musical display.
I remember back in the mid 90's I seen this version of G3 in Houston Texas at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell pavilion. An outside arena atmosphere. I enjoyed myself so much that I will never ever forget that concert. And these were three of my all time favorite guitar artists. Smoking Joe Satriani, Mr. Steve Vai, and lastly but not least Mr. Eric Johnson. Eric Johnson is from Austin Texas which is about an hour and a half or so drive from Houston, my birth place and current home town city. Thanks for the memories 😊😊😊
you don't get many Joe songs. it's mostly tracks. so this is extra special.
Damn......this is awesome.
Super Cool😎
I always love these guys But my favorite has always been SRV doing this song.
Epic memorable show
I am here before the millions!
Joe Satriani makes it look so easy. He’s a killer guitarist.
Brings me back to Jeff Becks version. Just awesome.
Remember this tour likeit was yesterday. Both Joe and Eric was good but Steve was AWESOME.
Out of the 3 solos, Steve Vai’s solo is just plain awesome goodness. Love that solo guitar works from Vai.
eu tenho essa preciosidade em CD e DVD....
I like to look at it ....the 3. Dualing masters of guitar . All 3 sparing guitars not blocking but each taking a turn to shoot saying let's see what your guitar got. Each turn forcing the next guitar master to raise it a notch tell all three are feeding off each other. One man's take on the force of G3.
Joe knows how to make that guitar squeal like Ned Beatty huh?
Joya Joya 😊😊😊
Miss this one, please do again with EJ

Inspiring ... I can't even wait to get the chance to restart playing guitar. Just some work, some work, before that...
Great cover on a great song .For technical ability ,these guys have got it in spades . If anyone is interested in hearing a fast rockin version of this song listen to' Rose Tattoo going down live' with Billy Thorpe. It's an absolute masterpiece of live music.
man, those dudes can really play . . .
looped Eric's solo say a gazillion times ... that guy is a genius
I happen to be an EJ guy when it comes to soloing. Just so damn artistic and tasteful. Not taking anything way from Satch or Vai, obviously monsters. EJ just is a poet and takes them to school.

No sunglasses, incessant mugging or perm either. He's by far the coolest of the three by simply not trying.
So much talent on that stage it kisses me off 😂
Great balance between the three of them and a really functioning sound mix. And three of the nicest guys in modern music...which is also a point worth mentioning in these troubled times. Do you think there is something in their backgrounds, a philosophy or belief even, which links them and their characters?
Immortal
