    Amazing series Stephen. Thank you! Some great insights in this Hegel lecture. Was Hegel a collectivist? I always thought he was interested in unifying dichotomies, but I’m not the most informed on him, and this piece seems to paint a different light. It’s not hard to see how taken at face value these ideas could embolden the rise of Nazi Germany and perhaps Hitler or others viewing themselves as ‘World Historical Figures.”

    Hitler probably knew Hegel fairly well. "World Historical Individuals" , moved by the prodding of History itself, will often trample on many in fulfillment of their inexorable mission. Hmmm, I think I see a connection here. Even if it was a misinterpretation on Adolf's part.

    Hegel must have a specific word for the sacrificial goat. Goethe uses the Greek word pharmakos.
