I cannot easily comprehend the degree of organization required to bring something like this from one human mind and then into the sounds and bodies of a whole coordinated crowd of sound makers and then into a compound unity yet again.

I love Ensemble Intercontemporain !. I hate living in Australia, there is barely any performances of avant-garde works. This is such an inredible piece. Grisey's genius is unfathomable to me.

The avant-garde is so five decades ago, though there are some good pieces like this one

C’est beau comme la non-rétractabilité des serres des oiseaux rapaces ou encore, comme l'incertitude des mouvements musculaires dans les plaies des parties molles de la région cervicale postérieure 💅👑

Im a musician. Have been for many years.. This is a brilliant ad beautiful work by Gerard Grisey. But id be too scared to play this. It sounds like music right out of a horror movie. The 30:00 min mark, although brilliant, it is utterly unsettling

For hundreds of years we in the Western world knew what to expect from a musical performance. Then in the 20th century we began to question what we mean by the word music. The end result is sound structures like this, devoid of dramatic narrative or memorable integral logic. This a massive sequence of sound effects that go on way too long and do not leave the listener with anything to remember or hum at home. Years from now when orchestras are still playing the Eroica or the Pathetique this score will be long forgotten.
