Why the eff has there not been a CoD or Battlefield style game for GIJoe? Talk about a huge success! Imagine climbing into HISS tank or the Mauler. A Skystriker or a Dragonfly! Imagine choosing Snake Eyes in the recon category, Lt. Falcon for assault, Roadblock for support and Bazooka for the engineer class! You could revamp the BF4 platform with all the GIJoe stuff and just leave it the same. I'd freakin' pay twice the usual amount for that game!!!

Where I lived it was on Saturday mornings, early when it first came out. Then it was every morning at 6:00AM. We didn't have cable in '84... or at all while there.

I was hoping ninja characters would use swords, spies would be stealthy and soldiers would use brute force. I was rooting for it.

The ninja charaters do use katanas/swords for melee, but can of course shoot as well. They have less shield than say Duke, but a lot more powerful melee attacks.

Why couldn't they get the sound files for the lasers from the show i'd be playin that game non stop if i could hear those lasers when i shoot....missed opportunity.

the game isn't the best looking tbh, but Geeks & Gamers has a video where they talk about how the company actually appreciated the criticism. So tbh, I'd rather support that then support companies that will sell you things with the intention of a cash grab.

This could easily be one of the best franchises if they made it more like COD or Splinter Cell and allowing players to play as any of the 100s of characters with their special weapons and expertise.

Saturday morning? I watched it on cable every morning before school back in the 80s.

I only really care to play as Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow if I’m being honest, and from what I’ve seen it does not look like you get to play as either of them much. Can anyone confirm this?

Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are cool, yes (but more or less reskins of each other). And you can play them (alternating between them, which is why it's actually cool they're reskins of each other) all the time, but you have to finish the campaign once to unlock all the characters (6 to choose between when you're playing the Cobra-side missions and vice versa). When you finish the campaign you also unlock 'modifiers' (a kind of perks - some of them anti-perks - makes the game even harder :-). There's also been an update to the game the last couple of days, and I think it has made the aiming better (though I'm not completely sure).

@@yupeeter9411 Okay, so just beat the game and you can play through any mission as any character? That makes sense. I saw that Snake only gets like two missions tho, and one of them your actually just playing as Zartan which is pretty wack

I'm on level 13 now after 4 days playing and 13 I'm having a hard time at the moment to pass. But whatever he says he right.. but I'm a gijoe fan and love it.

Looks awful. Agents of Mayhem (generally not a bad game) and this have me worried that a Fortnite influence is finding its way into single player/non online oriented games

Mayhem came around the same time as and wasn't influenced by Fortnite. It was influenced by Overwatch and, funny enough, G.I Joe.

Damn good idea, old school feel, love the game soundtrack, just wish that there were more characters-dlc, old school skins for all the current characters, and a Transformers cameo or two like Cobra Commander coming across Starscream or something like that. I know everyone is saying the game sucks, guessing the company had a small budget. I'm just glad someone made a GI JOE game with old school content and intent in mind. Or just a GI JOE game period... I copped it to support the game while also hoping one day we could get a truly great GI JOE game made Call of Duty/Black Ops style before all the BS/ Transformers Devastation.... Or something like that.... Gotta start somewhere especially when GI JOE isn't really even on the map now.... I'm thankful for the game.... Looking for a sequel. A BETTER and extended sequel....

It's Agents of Mayhem completely re-skinned to fit the GI Joe universe.

It's on sale as of this post psn 13.00 I like it it reminds me of early mid ps2 third person action games it works it's for gi joe 80s cartoon 80s kids and ps2 era fans like myself lol I'm 41 playing a game I wish we had , but yet we got it's fun a budget title

I’m a big GI Joe fan and will likely enjoy this for what it is but it’s good to know what I’m getting into. I didn’t think it was out to be anything huge anyway but it looks like it’s at least better than the Rise of Cobra game

Got this on sale for around 20 bucks on a Black Friday sale. I've actually enjoyed it but I'm a big GI Joe fan so that helps a lot. It's a fun shooter and I've enjoyed it a lot more than the last GI Joe game Rise of Cobra.

so no online capability and static cutscenes....and they're charging $40 for this? sounds like a rip off

That game was inspired by the 80's GI Joe animated series in the first place. Great game.

5:57 Can we really even say that? There doesn't seem to be any of the 80s camp, charm, or even cheap animation. 7:01 applies to these cutscenes too; these look lifted out of any other free2play game. I will never understand devs attempt to cash-in on nostalgia, but then go the most bland uninteresting and worse of all MODERN direction imaginable. And I'm not being difficult here; I would've def picked up this game eventually if they had added classic cartoon skins for ALL the characters instead of two that are arguably the most generic.

I like the new designs for the toys for the most part, but what I don't like is that most of their weapons are energy-based, and the enemies we face in-game are robots, not people. The thing is with 80's "camp" is that I can still enjoy it, but if you look at how She-Ra fans look at previous She-Ra stuff, they say it "looks weird". Apples & Oranges, I know. But this was what I was worried about if they tried to reboot G.I Joe. I knew they were gonna try and make it a safer place unlike how the comics were. Even then, I would've appreciated if they went with the Sunbow cartoon route, but they clearly don't understand the difference between the Modern and Charming approach like you said.

They need a 3vs.3 fighting game for this franchise. It has been way too long, how has nobody approached this? Think Street Fighter but with G.I. Joe vs. Cobra.

I am disappointed for several reasons. 1. The laser guns do not make the classic sound effects. 2. Did the game designers get the rights from Hasbro? Nothing looks like it is from the original IP. What a shame. 3. Those vehicles do not exist within the GI Joe universe. Where are the HISS tanks? 4. Is the art style cel shading? I have never been a fan of that aesthetic. I hated Zelda Windwaker. I almost auto bought (Ha. What a pun) this game. I am somewhat glad i did not. Granted this reviewer clearly had a bias. He sounded very disappointed. This game may be a decent popcorn flick shooter. The real crime is the lack of authentic IP of the Joes and Cobra.

1.imagen how anoying that sound would get after awile. 2.that becuse it's not the 80's show It's bassed off of G.I. JOE CLASSIFIED line I say the early waves considering how they all look if how do I know I have the roedblock, cobra comander and lady jay. 3.in the consep art book it shows all the vihicles they ether wunted or are in the game and you do drive a Hiss tank MK III, Snow Cat and a therd one I dont know the name of. Youer 4th one is just a personel prefrance. Yes it a G.I. I love the whole idea of Joe I even like the cartoon look, sadly it looks like it plays like a android phone game. GI Joe is such an untapped market, ya they have tried movies and now games but did they really none of them have been done well.

They could've leant heavily into the vehicle sections and created some fun setpieces with the goofier vehicles. Imagine it: a later level where you're rolling up to the battle in Rolling Thunder, blasting Cobra IMPs and BUGGs? That'd get a lot of fans on board. However, I can't fault the game developers - they clearly had to do what Hasbro wanted, on a budget that could've been bigger and a timeframe that could've been longer. Real shame.

The fact they couldn’t even be bothered to put in offline bot matches or online speaks for itself.

Agreed with @tedforrester1948. Very missed opportunity here. Throw in some elements on what Activision/High Moon Studios did with War and Fall of Cybertron where you have limited characters to chose from based on the mission like Sneak Eyes/ Storm Shadow for stealth missions (Cliffjumper/Bumblebee on stealth missions), Recondo for recon (Jazz/swindle), etc.

I was a huge fan back in the 80's and saw this was on sale on the PSN, but it doesn't sound like it's worth more than $10 - at most.

I never thought I’d say that the most recent Contra was better then any another game...you catch my drift right? ;)

I'm sorry some games are just for fun and it doesn't have to be that deep. I loved it and to me its about a preference. There's alot of my friends who really enjoyed this game. So it will be for some and for others it will be a world of fun. This was way better than the movie game and the arcade game. Its a true fan tribute. So I would say this game is for true fans of GI Joe.

I love this game. At first I sucked at it so I didn’t like it but I tried again and once I was good at aiming I fell in LOVE with the game. I go back and replay with the unlocked characters. I love the different character weapons. It’s addicting for me. I can find so much about it that I like and can have fun with it. Once you learn it’s gameplay style you’ll love it...they did a wonderful job. I look forward to dlc characters.

(Edited) I love the gi joe game,I love the local split screen coop option,I dont want a drawn out story all the time,I hate boring mission( like some gta missions, battlefield,god of war etc)just put me on a battlefield once in a while(like this game), thats why cod wins alot more then other games

i can't be the only one that thought of agents of mayhem just reskin with G.I. Joe characters, as soon as i saw this game.

Keep an eye on how much shield you have left, remember to pick up healing units (and grenades and bullets of course). And if you can't seem to hit enemies, run away or quickly go close for a melee kill (only if your shield/health is reasonably good). That's how I've learned to play it. And how I enjoy it.

Uggghh another boot party for my childhood

Looks ok and fun, depending on the price, I’ll wait for a price drop, if it has multiplayer then it’s worthy of the extra $

Dang man! I should've watched this video before I chose to buy the $50 version. What a big disappointment. I do hope and expect an update/upgrade to this game in the near future, I mean come on... Not going to buy it, but it ever comes up on game pass, I am going to play the hell out of it for a day or so.

I don’t think 🤔 aiming should be a complaint for a shooter game G.I. Joe in this case. I don’t like the dependency of auto-aim shouldn’t be the praised and highlight of shooters. Regardless, I do find enjoyment and convenience, I do like the option of free aim and auto-aim for certain gaming sessions. I find free-aim great to be a skillful and more efficient player, and I find it to give you more of an advantage in certain circumstances.

This just like a app game or something they should make it over on ps5...

Tis a shame, I always felt that a GI Joe Battlefield clone, or straight up game if Hasbro was feeling wild, would be the best way to do it Giant multiplayer battles, cool vehicles, classic maps And This license would be perfect for the modern Spectacle driven, dude bro emotional FPS campaigns. Until I see the announcement for this game, I will forever feel it’s a missed opportunity.

Probably pick this up when its cheap. Looks like game people will call hidden gem in 5 years. Most those type are not perfect but can be fun .if you can get past the flaws.

They could’ve easily made this game open world pvpve conquest/invasion war like battlefield.

I saw the bad reviews for this game on Xbox One, and thought it couldn't be THAT bad. And the game was on sale for $15. After playing through the first 4 missions, I realized it IS that bad. Bad enough that even though an actual 2nd person would make the game more playable, I refuse to subject any G.I. Joe fan to a co-op play through.

I loved watching gi joe growing up but this is kinda bad agents of mayhem felt like a better GI Joe experience even if it was volitions take on gi Joe with their universe and characters

Sounds like Avengers without the unique character gameplay.

I don't mind the style they were going for, but man did they execute it poorly. This looks like something that came out on the 360 on launch day, not a $40 game released at the beginning of a new console gen.

Game was released just to help market the new action figures.
