Lully n'est pas né Italien mais florentin, nuance. Et, il arrive en France sans éducation musicale. Il apprendra tout dans le pays de Molière. La talent est inné.

The two poles of Baroque music are Italy and France, whose styles are strongly opposed despite reciprocal influences. This opposition was such that many musicians from one of the schools went so far as to refuse to play works from the other. The Italian style spread widely outside Italy. France is undoubtedly the country which resisted this domination the most, under the influence of Jean-Baptiste Lully (Italian naturalized French), this until the Querelle des Bouffons, in the middle of the 18th century.

Oui les Italiens savent très bien faire en la matière. C'est l une des raisons que je les apprécie. Les Italiens ont le sens du beau dans tout et même aujourd'hui c est indiscutable.

@@senirgoriosi4680 For one Italy didn't exist at that time...and second, Lully discarded his Florentine origins and was proud and happy to be naturalized French citizen. He has nothing to do with Italy.

@@angelogandolfo6374 you can be born anyway but your life is where you lived all your time. Lully came very young to France and he was influenced by frecnh music and specially by Marais and some others. His music doesn't sound italian but typically french in Louis XIV style

He was Italian, Giovanni Battista Lulli, even though he decided to be naturalized as a Frenchman with the name of J. B. Lully
Lully's marche carries the full resonance of the Turkish-European encounter. May music always cut a path through ossifications of mind and soul by false antagonism.

Pienamente d'accordo con lei.
Don’t you love it when people cannot let the music end before interrupting it with applause and “bravo?” She ruined an otherwise excellent performance. I’d ask to play it again just because of that interruption. Shameful audience. The conductor composed himself well after that disruption.
