I've been in the VFX industry for decades, and still to this day its shocking to see how much work goes into a shot, and how detailed and fantastic the sim, animation work, lighting rendering, etc is...., then usually gets completely covered in a thick snowstorm, dust, or dimly lit, MBlurred, etc. still wish we went backwards in the pipe, from finished concept art lighting backwards. would save a LOT of money and a LOT of headaches. wouldn't worry about spending a month animating an eye blink only to see it on a person in a crowd in the middle of the night with motion blur. great reel, Houdini stuff looks tight

You have the X-Muscle add-on in blender, but I don't know what they use in the movies

I'm pretty sure almost all big productions use Houdini for most simulations

Would have to be for most of it, other softwares can do similar things but houdini would give more control/art direction.

@@toxic7516 you could technically do heavy destruction reliant vfx shots in blender, im not sure about maya. But blender is not at its best when it comes to destruction vfx. Blender does not have built in, neither advanced fracturing support which is a huge down and mantaflow is also not the fastest fluid engine out there. I am having high hopes that the all nodes update series the blender team is working on will change a lot of this. We already have geometry nodes which are very powerful. But as of right now using Houdini for vfx is just better and easier than blender. I love blender a lot. Ive been using it for over 6 years now but i just cant see it being as powerful when it comes to vfx as Houdini YET.
