FX Impact round 2 // Problems aren’t over yet

Ойын-сауық

Range day round 2 with the FX Impact M3. Unfortunately it looks like the problems with this gun aren’t over. Sending it back to FX and then we’ll try again. I really like this gun, but I want to LOVE this gun. I think it will be there once everything gets taken care of, it definitely has potential

    Sir. The valve is the LAST adjustment you should make. Start with it all the way open (one and a half turns past line 4). Then set your Mac and mic on their max marks. Shoot. Check speed. If too slow, bump your second reg up until you start bumping up a little faster than you want. Then start turning the macro adjustment down until your speed drops. Fine tune with micro at that point. Then start turning in the valve knob until your speed drops slightly. Once that happens turn it back out a bit and presto, your M3 is tuned.

    thanks man, like I said I have no idea how this works and am trying to figure it out as I go. so I appreciate any input. the valve was supposed to be all the way open, that's where I had it set. but the adjustment knobs didn't change anything and the velocities were still low so I tried the main valve. but I'll try this next time I take it out!

    Dont give up! I bought an Impact 3 years ago and had no idea what to do... Now I have owned a lot, sold some, and tune all of my buddies Impacts. Once you figure it out and get a good tune going it is worth the frustration! PS: pellets are almost too easy to tune for. Firm Handshake when it comes to slug tuning. It's a wild ride, takes a ton of patience, air, and slugs to get the perfect slug gun. Well worth it when you do though!

    I can tell this thing will be absolutely fantastic when this all gets worked out. It’s just difficult cause I have no idea what I’m doing with these yet 😂 firearms I understand, these are completely new

    Yep, Send it back, they need to change the valve rod / valve housing. First, learn to tune pellets… slugs are a little bit more complex.. This airgun its amazing, don’t give up! Cheers MC

    Mate you got to know your stuff with those fx , get rid and get a daystate safari or raw , I got a 20 year old theoben rapid 7 .25cal 44lbs and that will do one hole at 50yards easy !! Fx are tinkering guns I like to hit stuff 😂

    the .25 hybrids are dogshit if you want to go with slugs use Zan or NSA and are you sure its a leak and not the plenum refilling? The reason why the slugs were a lot slower is because they have a much larger bearing surface in the barrel unlike a pellet only the edge of the head and skirt are making contact with the barrel

  • @longrangescience

    @longrangescience

    Жыл бұрын

    That makes sense on the bearing surface and is what I started wondering later. And I think it’s a leak, it would go until I closed the bolt and air was coming out the top. And it’s dropping pressure quite a bit overnight so it’s going back to em. I’ll grab some of those slugs and see how it goes when I get it back, thanks!

    Think I’d focus on the air leak and then start watch tuning videos and taking notes. I don’t own an FX but the rifles I own benefited tremendously from tuning. I can tell you that rifles are ammo picky & Some can be very ammo picky. Be prepared to put rounds through the gun and track velocity and group size. For pellets, I’d start at 825 fps and work up in velocity until you see groups open or tighten. This is the simple process I’ve used. I’ve generally set hammer spring in the middle of its adj and go low and the reg and increase in small increments. The guns I have allow the reg to be increased under pressure but not decreased. So I start low and work up. I record reg pressure/velocities & group sizes. Once I find the best reg setting I then will test hammer preload from low to high noticing velocities & group size. Watch for diminishing returns on velocity as you increase hammer tension. You may reach a point where velocity doesn’t increase. This can also happen when bumping reg pressures up. Back off from the adj as you will have maxed the rifle for that projectile. There are a lot of videos in tuning out there but the above is my method and has worked for me with non FX brands. Good luck.

    That gun at 50 yards should be hole on hole, i had an issue with a new moderator that was clipping and my results were similar to yours, got it replaced and now its on point again, so check out your moderator to make sure that it's not clipping the pellets

    Like said before those hybrids suck, I'd put a heavy liner, 36.2 nsa slugs, they are very forgiving, 900 to 1000fps Also run higher reg pressure with slugs, start qt 150-160, shorter bursts of air, your goal is to have the slug exit the barrel before the air Get rid of the first reg, saber tactical makes a delete, you'll thank me later Pin probe and huma transfer port are a must with slugs, allows for even heavier slugs Leaks can happen its really not that big of a deal, I have e 4 impacts and very very rarely I deal with o ring issues, and when I do it's very simple to fix If u have any questions hit me up, I'll help They are frustrating, but when u understand them they are very accurate

    Reg is to low that's why you lost Velocity When you try to bump up the hammer you lost velocity it's because your regulators too low And that's probably why you're losing air too because you don't have enough air to push back on the valve rod to close it I'm just saying I could be wrong

    Don't understand why a gun needs tuning like that. It should just be accurate, without having to put in massive amounts of effort. especially at that price. A 500 dollar gun is better out of the box. Unreliable expensive badly made piece of junk.

  • @longrangescience

    @longrangescience

    It’s the same as any rifle. They have loads they like and some they don’t. And it can’t shoot everything the same without some tweaking. It has been slightly irritating, but I don’t know anything about air guns so that’s on me. You don’t have to tune it, that just lets you dial it in exactly to where you want it.

    Welcome to FX's B S., leaks,leaks and more leaks. And let's not forget the biggest problem with them is lack of quality in there barrels.they are to flimsy, $2000 PCP should have been a better barrel design. Don't waste your time or money with the FX hype from sponsored personalities who get 50 barrels for free. I've owned 3 fx gun's and only 1 was problem free. And my impact was over $2500 serial number 1 higher then ted's first one. That means old fred put mine together and he let it go to be sold, poor quality or lack of caring. And don't tell the truth on airgun nation about any negative facts about FX😂😂

    @@Fernando_Woolybooger I can't speak for there customer service now, but when the first impact was released, AOA,and FX in sweden was a fucking joke! Liners, barrel tensioning systems, harmonic balancer is all a extra cost on top of $2k, it's a gimmick. Of course all gun's have a harmonic motion, whether it's Air or Powder. Hence the reason bench guns are heavy and have bull barrels. I had very detailed pic's on airgun nation as to the mar'd surfaces of the interior parts of the impact, damaged barrel alignment Grove, piss poor finish on the overall barrel itself, bent pellet probe, this was all the condition when I received it from AOA, I returned it immediately and for replacement, and was told that's what the finish is? After the BOBCAT I should have just requested a refund. But no this was supposed to be the gun of gun's, the last one to buy. It's really fucked up, it went back to AOA 3 time's for air leaks, and was returned once leaking air from a different spot? Yeah that's quality workmanship there. The last time I had it serviced was by Ernest in N.C. he basically replaced all the internals with the MK2 version. It lasted about 9months before air was leaking from the regulator. I to made a KZread video of what I thought of FX and the final destruction of that impact, of course it was flagged for copyright, vulgar language, and removed. There's no copywriting issue on what I done so it is what it is. Bottom line is FX couldn't give me a gun for free nowadays. I'd throw it in the trash where garbage belongs. Although I had a BOSS for several years without any significant problems, I wouldn't call it a tack driver though.
