Already we're in a bicycle boom and less and less people can afford cars. Electric cars are a nice step, but if we get serious about bike infrastructure, local production, and cultural acceptance, we may see cars an even smaller factor in the economy than this forecasts. Breed a breed of chicken that doesn't make noise, and we may see more people keeping a few and feeding them on scraps. We may see more people raising carp. If we can get over the cultural taboos, we may see people raising cuy (which is a larger type of guinea pig) or bugs like mealworms. As for the 2nd Great Depression, we're in the beginning of it.
