Contemporary Afrobeats began to grow in Nigeria in the late 90s and spectacularly took shape in the early 2000s with D’Banj, Don Jazzy and Mo’Hits and then PSquare.I would say D’Banj and Don Jazzy revolutionized Afrobeats, especially it’s international acceptance and monetary side. Although Azonto made specific dance for specific song a trend, that had also been in existence in the Nigerian music scene. For instance the was the “Galala” dance in Nigeria back in the day.

@@jeffreyantwy8775 It's not Afrobeat, Damn! This music does not bring anything to Afrobeat. And you ask me if I know the original Afrobeat? Fela Kuti is the founder of Afrobeat, and his music has nothing to do with Afrobeat music at all, or even most commercially labeled Afrobeat Nigerian popular music. Today's Afrobeat has stolen many elements of Highlife Music (Ghanaian Music) Because Highlife Music was too developed compared to Afrobeat, which had no success in Africa from its founding in the 1970s until the early 2010s. , Because Africa was dominated at that time by Makossa Music, Congolese Rumba, Soukous, Ndombolo (Congo Music), Soul Makossa (Cameroon Music)
