This might seem kind of lame, but I thought it might be cool if they just made his heirloom his hand/arm. They could make it soo that it has a bunch of attachments. So basically when you pull out his heirloom or put away his gun, his arm will come into view and he would very quickly slide a hook, beer bottle, or a pirate knife or something in replacement to his hand. I think it would just be so cool because it means he can technically have multiple heirlooms at the expense of maybe having unique equip animations. His inspect could also just be him switching attachments, so if he had his hook out, he would just take it off and put on a knife attachment that would of course stay.
