I remember hearing George Miller say that when writing Fury Road, he had developed enough story for a whole other movie. It sounds like this is that movie. Probably the reason as to why he did this first than to continue the story from where the first film ended.

Apparently Miller wants to do one more movie about Max so let's root hard for serious box office for Furiosa. The movie cost about $170 million to make and definitely needs to sell some tickets.

I am with you on the girl boss roles, and I feel that way about stoic, chip on his shoulder, plot armor heavy male characters, too. Don't give me a bland, invincible hero. Give me someone who can get their butt kicked and sometimes they have retreat and go lick their wounds and rethink their strategy before they proceed with their next plan of attack. I am glad you enjoyed the film, James. Have a fantastic weekend!

The point you were making about how the fandom hasn’t grown since FuryRoad,I believe it has but that fandom was disappointed it wasn’t Charlize Theron. I think the majority’s first thought was to catch it streaming and probably won’t give it a chance at the theater. ( hoping people show up🤞🏼) At first I felt the same way but I’m glad I saw this, it was really good, I had a great time and everyone was great. But I’d love to see Theron as Furiosa continue her story on the big screen.

Just wanted to say thanks for doing the review, I’ve watched mad max in a right puberty stage at 9 or 10 and been following the production of fury road every day since until it came out when I was 16 going on 17. Suffice to say it is THE ONLY movie where I’ve brought myself to watch it five time in theaters…the action and pure adrenaline always gets me every time like watching The Raid while Miller putting lots of modern action directors to shame! I am very sad to see Furiosa doing very poorly at the box office since I think it’s just as equally good while loving the fact it’s basically almost a retelling of the original Mad Max film. Today will be my forth time seeing it along being the last day to watch it on a premium Cinemark XD format. I took my father to see it and my friend to watch it so I’m spreading the gospel! I’m also proud to say I won an eBay bidding on a Furiosa poster signed by the entire cast and crew with a WB COA approval and a Cannes press badge for proof! I’m hoping it can make enough to warrant a sequel cause I don’t want to franchise turn into dust…Miller is such a genius director and the fact he’s 80 years old knowing how to make a narrative structure just shows how much of a passionate man he is. Here’s hoping for The Wasteland otherwise you deserve your retirement kind sir!

Totally valid, but it reminded me of Rogue One where I wanted to watch A New Hope immediately, and I don’t think that was accidental or bad for this movie. In 5 or 10 years time, if you get a Mad Max itch; I think Furiosa and Fury Road is gonna be an AMAZING double feature. Yes, it's a bit too long. But it's a kick-ass revenge flick, pure and simple. That's what I believe makes it different. It's a character study and origin story, true, but at its heart it's a revenge flick. The world is familar, but I think some of the action seqiences were doing something new and exciting in their design. The longer action set pieces really were set up like mini stories with a beginning, middle and end. Lots of great tiny details and flourishes that set George Miller apart from most action directors. I found myself very locked in for this movie, but yeah, it's also too long.

Overall I liked it, the story and development of characters were good . What was disappointing the CGI, I was very aware of its presence in this movie, fury road you had to pull apart stunt vs CGI, this movie you have to find the stunt in the CGI. CGI dampens down the stunt. Still good but fury road was the movie, nobody wanted but needed. The reason this movie leans into more CGI was due to the nightmare time George had with the studio and on set, George coming from a medial background was very safety driven. Apparently he had lost a lot of weight due to stress and been in the desert for 100days. The movie was shelved with only the 2-3 acts. Allowed 3weeks for acts 1-4. I’m guessing the studio pushed him to more CGI on this and his age. Think he wanted to tell this story. The future of mad max is their, but not with George, it’s his baby, but I think Christopher Nolan with Tom hardy could do an excellent “the wastelands” story, new characters need to be brought in, the feel of the movie has to change. Time to move the plot forward. Got 10yrs before hardly grow out of this role

Nothing can ever be Fury Road again, so its hard to compare. I really liked this but Fury Road's bar is so high in my opinion, I'm not sure what he could have done to match it. When it "dragged" a bit I just had to keep telling myself it's its own thing. I'm glad he didn't de-age Charlie but if this ran right into FR then it should have went from the girl, to Anya for a couple of chapters, then Charlize for the final chapter.

@@gonesavage Not for me it didnt. The action just doesn't have that level of excitement and thrill that T2 does. I like the chase scenes in cities, not deserts. It looks more spectacular.

Same here. Seeing it after the Road Warrior was one of my biggest disappointments I had in life. Saw it once in the cinema and then never after. Thunderdome for me is like a poor Spielbergian attempt to copycat a Mad Max movie. No nostalgia factor can change this and I hate this movie.

Long movies are not inherently bad so the movie is to long is a meaningless criticism to me without more context.

Perhaps I could have phrased it better by saying I was feeling the length, but I have no problem with long movies. I saw Bertolucci's complete cut of '1900' in the theater and that runs over 5 hours.

Fury Road just looks to clean and generic. This looks the same way. There are so many elements in Mad Max and the Road Warrior that are raw and organic. I think it has to do with money, the actors and the practical effects versus cgi. Yes I watched Fury Road in a theatre. Tom Hardy is an excellent actor..but Mel Gibson just is.

Good call on Godzilla but as far as my inner bias goes, I've admitted many times on this channel that I'm not an obsessive Godzilla fan. I love the 1954 original and Minus One, but only recently started watching the obscure classics. Here's a link to a livestream I did about the history of the franchise: kzread.infoezo3YQ-fqRw?feature=share
