    It should be noted that even Ralph, who never had a good thing to say about anyone, got up to tend to Furio slipping on that ice. Furio was loved by all and in no way was Ralph getting up to get away from the his money dispute with Paulie. Furio was a saint.

    @@MaryLou913 There are perfectly good reasons why Furio slapped that kid and Asian lady around. And David Chase alluded to it in later episodes. You see, video quality wasn't as sharp as it is now and fortunately it doesn't dilute how great of a show it was but it does lead to people getting the wrong impression about Furio. Those two people that Furio "slapped" had bees on them. Furio hates bees because they sting people. Some are even allergic to them. He's trying to save lives while dressed in bespoke Italian fashion wear. Sainthood bound, imo.

    super weird of you to only see the dynamic with the teacher to be cynical/transactional from carmela's direction. the guy knows exactly what he's doing and only regrets it immediately after post-nut clarity sets in, i.e. he morally disagrees with what he did but he did it for the chance to hit it again. he insults and vilifies her so he doesn't have to face his own complicity, that's why he's so oddly blunt and crude about it--we know he's a man of linguistic poise, in fact. just like carmela, he's desperate to avoid facing himself.

    I really enjoyed revisiting Carmelo and Furio with you! I also appreciate your refreshing attitude towards this storyline, since so many people seemed to dislike it while the show was one. I liked it. My only bone to pick with what you said is that I wouldn't describe it was "soap opera"--just because there's an actual, albeit thwarted, romantic storyline in the show doesn't mean that these things don't happen to people in the real world (especially in mid-life). We see Carmela go through multiple mid-life crises throughout the show (and now that I'm actually her age (I was closer to Chris and Adriana's age when the show came out) I have a deeper understanding of those crises)--mostly crises of faith, but others as well--and each time she finds a potential way out of her relationship with Tony, only to return, every time.

But I also think there was that ingrained mysoginistic bias that most sopranos fans seem to have :/ Its also easy to spot with Meadow analyses. I know this is your own channel but I'd maybe suggest bouncing future scripts off a female fan, I think the average guy loses a lot in translation with highly complex female characters.

    Bobby and Karen… Come on

  • @WowLynchWow

    @WowLynchWow

    5 ай бұрын

    I guess I can see an argument being made there, but beyond Bobby mourning for her, I don't think we have enough evidence to jump to that conclusion. We never see a whole lot of Karen, or her relationship with Bobby. We were also never provided with any real evidence that Bobby had a romantic side during his courtship with and marriage to Janice. It is definitely strongly implied that Bobby and Karen had a better relationship than most of the couples, but all of that is largely based on Bobby mourning her loss, the special place her last ziti held in his heart, and the fact Bobby was said to never have a woman on the side. I would concede that Bobby and Karen had a loving relationship, but I doubt they had the same type of traditionally romantic chemistry shared by Carmela and Furio. Cheers!

    “And Carmela deserved better.” I think the narrator made that statement speaking for the thoughts running through Furio’s mind at that moment, as opposed to speaking for his own perspective.

    Furio had his shot when he could have pushed Tony into the propeller blade. It's difficult to say if those two would have worked out had Furio killed Tony that night. As mentioned, if Furio still had his lust for Carmella if he wouldn't have come back upon Tony getting killed... assuming that Tony didn't send someone till kill Furio in Italy like he threatened to do.

    SO SHE RISKED TONY KILLING FURIO BY CONFESSING HER CRUSH ON FURIO, THATS NOT TRULY LOVING FURIO IS IT, IF SHE LOVED FURIO SHE WOULDN'T EVEN RISK TONY GETTING JEALOUS AND ANGRY AND FINDING A WAY TO SET UP HIS MURDER. INSTEAD SHE PUTS FURIO AT RISK BY DELIBERATELY USING HER FRIENDSHIP WITH FURIO AS A WEAPON TO SIMPLY MAKE TONY JEALOUS- WHICH SHE COULD HAVE DONE WITH ANY OTHER MAN, EXCEPT FURIO. THATS THE FLAW IN THE PLOT. WHEN TONY DOES DIE IN THE END THE WRITERS SHOULD HAVE HAD AN APPEARANCE OF FURIO BEING AROUND SO WHEN SHES WIDOWED WE KNOW FULL WELL SHE WILL END UP MARRIED TO FURIO, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD ENDING ❤

    But real people aren’t always filled with all that foresight in the moment. He’s been cheating on her for years! In that moment she probably couldn’t help herself, not to mention you know, she knows Furio is safely in another country on another continent surrounded by familiar mafiosi he’s grown up with.

    Mr. Williams could not have provided Carmela with the lifestyle she was accustomed to. She couldn't deal with just a Hyundai and a golden heart on a chain. Their romance would not have lasted.

    Yes, and you guy remember how Tony act when he knew!!! He call to Italy I remember he said " if anyone see him, he is a death man" That why Furio cant stay in Italy ,actually he cant stay anywhere until Tony death plus the love he has for Camela I think he was the one who order the hit of Toni at the End !!! He was the only unfinish business that Toni did not finish in the story.
