The fact the fandom's opinions on this quest are so divided really shows how realistically written the story was.

It must feel devastating to be in the position Furina is in, to be ganged up when you only want to save Fontaine, and yet she still was able to do everything she can to keep her identity hidden

is kinda sad how she doesn’t even have any single power from the beginning of her position as the hydro archon like even a counterfeit vision to defend herself. Focalor should at least give her a bit of power tho

They are all guilty of ignorance, if the traveler's plan to trick Furina into talking had worked, everyone in Fontaine would have been exposed. In this archon quest the traveler was the enemy. I'm surprised why no one said "thank you for all your work" to Furina or Focalors, rather they behave in a rather ungrateful manner.

@@jkq5009 yea, answers to the question he made to her when they were in that fake house, he genuinely cared for her and wanted her to respond so he can help along with everyone, tho ofc he didn't know of the plan and it isn't his fault for almost ruining it either, he was just going along, the one who planned this whole thing wasn't traveler either, he just wanted answers but neuvillette suggested the trial and clorinde suggested the way to trap her along with navia leading her indirectly to the trap, when traveler was talking to furina to buy time, he actually wanted to hear what she wanted to say, he did feel bad for her when she was crying, but when he thought he finally got the answer it was too late since the fake house was already opened, traveler himself deviated and wanted to do something outside the plan but failed, tho it was revealed that furina wasn't going to say anything either way. This proves that traveler cared about her and along with the dialogues in her story quest we notice that he does feel bad for her tho cannot empathize since her suffering is not just something one experiences normally, you wouldn't be able to empathize with her completely either, no one would be able to understand her unless they lived through those 500 years with her, traveler did his best, he wasn't really aware of the plan of focalors so he thought he wasn't really doing anything wrong except helping fontaine, thats what clorinde, lyney, Lynette, neuvillette, navia, freminet, arlecchino all thought since they helped on setting up the trap for furina

Furina may not have been Archon like the others, but she sure as hell had the willpower and love of one. And she follow through with the plan to the end.

She was willing to die when touching the primordial water 😭

@@Jasiuc330 I see this line tossed around so much - yes, you're right that in no way can someone truly 100% know the pain she went through, but there's something called empathy. Some individuals are very bad at being empathetic and some can be overly empathetic to the point they nearly understand exactly what someone goes through. Just look around at most of the individuals discussing Furina and how they are sad for her for what she went through as an example in itself. I think the issue is it wasn't portrayed as well as it should have in regards to the traveler showing a heavy degree of concern for her when she needed it the most and after everything was all said and done. The biggest offender is Paimon in Furina's story though - she was being quite rude given what Furina just went through. Buuuuuuuuuuut I believe Paimon is heavily left out of loop in regards to what exactly went down, and that's no fault of her own. I bring this up because she has shown a solid degree of empathy in past events/scenarios

Her people hates her for 'doing nothing'. Even though she did research about the prophecy, it did nothing at all. The people of Poisson still died. That's why they hated her. The people also didn't know anything so their hatred is justified.

Traveller just coincidentally entered the crime scene that long last for more than 10 years alongside Tartaglia. That's why the coincidences of "4 Nations Hero" alongside the Promising Harbringer catalyzed Focalor's plan to open the criminal case (From Lyney, Navia's Father, up until Traveller sent to Meropide). The Whale also got attracted with the Primordial Water also, that's why the prophecy needs to be testament. By the death of Focalors, Neuvillette as a Soverign Dragon (who has the power of Hydro) can decode the Heavenly Ethics by forgiving Fontanian original sin (Combining Oceanid with Primordial Water, and Neuvillette can manipulate the Primordial Water). Once he acted as an Archon, he can freed Fontanians that cannot be done by Egeria or even Focalor, because Neuvillette was the Source of Power. If Focalors die, there is no reason for Celestia granted Neuvillette his original power of creating things

That was a gripe I also had. Like, why did they need to say that. It makes it feel as if they don't care about Furina at all. In my opinion this is where Genshin fails. There are small moments like these in the story that just leave a bad taste. It is like when you read something, and it is forced despite all other narrative pointing to an opposite outcome.

Everyone saying the Traveler is becoming an annoying hinderance instead of the hero... Keep in mind Furina was an active participant in a skewed system of so-called justice that was gonna collapse sooner or later. Ajax's trial was literally our first peak into how this would turn out. Despite the evidence of his innocence, the Oratrice, Fontaine's highest authority of justice, judged him guilty. When the people of Fontaine looked to Furina for answers, all she could do was scoff and call the people fools who were decieved by Tartaglia's false innocence without actually providing an explanation as to HOW he was guilty. Yes, now we know, but back then, we didn't. Neither did the traveler, nor the people of Fontaine. Everyone wanted answers and the only one who had them was too busy acting like an arrogant dunce drunk on power and self-righteousness. No one in this situation was particularly more right than the other, but keep in mind everyone was acting reasonably according to the situation. Y'all are literally so quick to dismiss the archons' actual war crimes after hearing their, understandably tragic, backstories because "they've been through so much uwu". Yeah, what about the people whose literal sense of free will was stripped from them during the vision hunt decree? What about the Fontainians now scared of the bias justice they've put at the center of their society? It's understandable to think now that the ends justify the means, because we now know what the ends actually are. But it's unreasonable to say those who opposed those means were wrong when they were kept in the dark as to what ends those means were for.

I don't know If I understand you right, if not then correct me, but with Ei I do agree that peoples forgive her in blink of an eye, cause sexy mommy etc. Aside the fact that Mihoyo fucked up with proper story building in Inazuma, what happen, happened. But with Furina I don't know if I interpret it right, but do you mean that she didn't gave answers cause she was to busy playing arrogant dunce? Well let's start that peoples of Fountaine wanted to see her that way and since she couldn't proof that she is an "archon" via power, so she had to play according to Fountainians cards. Another thing Furina isn't same as Ei While Ei cause of all losses that happen to her, decided to close her self to world and leave ruling to puppet that was tyrant. Furina know that her act was for greater good. She was assured that her suffering will help save peoples of Fountaine and despite knowing that Focalors is doing something to stop prophecy, Furina also tried to throw her five cents in finding solution to prophecy. Also her arrogant mask, that peoples of Fountaine wanted her to have any way, helped her dodging many bullets that could tremble her stay in role that was valid to saving Fountaine. Hell she even decided to risk her self being dissolved just to prove that she is "Archon" But peoples shouldn't be mad at rest of the chr. ethier. Furinas play was so convincing that others get so concerned about Fountaine's fate, that when they saw their "Archon" not doing shit, they decided to take matter in their own hands.

@@Jasiuc330 Let me word it another way. The people of Fontaine needed answers. Because for the first time in history, Iudex Niuvellete and the Oratrice had differing verdicts. Whereas Niuvellete found the defendant innocent given the evidence provided, the Oratrice declared him guilty of the crime. This having caused confusion, the people looked towards their Archon for answers, answers she couldn't provide. All she could do was accuse them of having been fooled by the Harbinger without actually providing evidence. This of course would shake the people. They built their society around Justice, and henceforth the Oratrice which embodies justice. If the Oratrice could just disregard evidence and make a baseless verdict, what would it mean for their system of justice? Scared, they would look towards the one who embodies that aspect the most, their archon. But Furina, who we now know is unable to do so, refused to give the answers they seek. This would be the same conflict that would lead the people of Fontaine to revolt and hold their Archon to trial. A tragedy would strike the Nation of Justice and the people would look to their archon, who seemingly has no interest. Tired of it all, the people would demand answers however they needed to force them out of Furina, who they believe to be their all knowing Archon. From a storyteller's perspective, the cruelty and heartlessness with which Furina was tried is completely reasonable. The nation's ruler seemingly had no care for the nation's issues and so the people would find their own solution. Now that we know the reasoning behind Furina's actions, we can acknowledge that she isn't the bad guy here, she's the tragic unsung hero. But we also cannot disregard the actions of the people as unneeded, because had Furina been the actual Archon, her flippant attitude towards the nation crumbling beneath her feet would be concerning. No one here is the bad guy, just all misguided. Just as Ei was misguided by her grief in her campaign of eternity, Furina was misguided by her faith in Focalor's plan without any information. As well as how the people were misguided in seeking answers from the wrong person. Everyone hailing Furina as the hero while demonizing the actions of the Traveler and the Fontainians are acting on a bias because of their 3rd person omniscience. We know the story now, and can feel bad for the absolute torture it must've been for Furina, but we can't be mad at the people just trying to save their lives from an issue their archon seemingly did not care enough to fix. And even before the tragic revelation, everyone was quick to be mad at the traveler for being mean to the sassy uwu girl just living her best life.

These people's wanted to save their nation when they though their archon does nothing about prophecy. And now hating on them, because it turned out Furina suffered is unresonsble.
