electronic super joy has the best first boss IMO. As for metal gear rising, I think it was style over substance. Of course, it looked spectacular and all, but in terms of gameplay it sucked, probably the worst mgr boss. edit: I didn't know you can parry ray's legs when I played, I might enjoy the fight more if I could know about that

I'm tied, but the developer didn't have the same resources and made an experience that was just as good as a AAA+ title. That is a win within itself

This video lets the song branch in so many different directions, but then it always returns to that deep, synthetic throb. It feels oppressive, stormy. It’s like the song itself lets you be free for a moment.. let’s you imagine, dream... before it reminds you that you’re actually trapped. What a game man. It’s so cohesive. It’s everything you want it to be

I don't have this game, but damn does this first track make me want to play it so bad. I've discovered amazing games like Frostpunk, Doom, Hyper Light Drifter, Thumper, Ruiner, etc... based only on the soundtracks alone. I'm going to have to add Furi to the list.

14:35 it is a tragedy that this section with the siren sample is nowhere to be seen on the soundtrack and hardly heard ingame, my first run of Furi I struggled hard on the Chain (and it was 4 AM) but after spending so long on each phase and finally making it near the end and hearing this section was an otherworldly experience and why the Chain is my favorite fight in the game, this is the moment I realized that I was escaping a prison, a place I was locked up in for a purpose and that those sirens were for *me*, that this was only the first jailer and it was already this tough (at least for me, I didn't really struggle on Furi mode past this fight) and that each one past this one was going to be even harder to get out, but without even knowing if I should be escaping

I can say it about whole game

Makes me smile knowing there are people who obsess over video game music as much as I do.

He may be the first boss in the game, but he is my favorite one out of them all. His getup, those three Japanese Noh masks are simply badass.

Phase 5 & 6 adds a whole new element to this theme that I can’t believe I missed when I first heard this track. Played the game for the first time this week after watching others play, got on Furier and heard phase 5 and 6 (I never noticed it on regular difficulty idrk) and my body just shivers from the energy and expression of danger present in this master piece. Even when I hate it I Love this game and all the artists who helped bring it to life.

With all the drumming and the hand claps... It almost feels like some ritual of initiation.

Prob the reason why would be the engine they used for it. WWISE is a plugin for the game and it is what makes the songs change between cycles or phases. It’s hard to get the in-game mix as the song is just playing and depending on what is happening, it changes the placement of the song. Meaning the song can take 2 minutes, 5 minutes or 10 minutes or maybe longer since it’s based on cues from the game. The only reasonable way to get it is to play and have no sound effects and record until you hear the game repeat. Which I think it is the case with this.

Absolutely godly crescendo to top off an astoundly consistent 18 minute progressive electro house/synthwave track 12:48

Absolute ripper. Amazing job pulling these and keeping the quality so high. These should be compiled in an Unofficial Complete Furi OST or something.

Absolutely. And that's why The Chain is one of my favorite bosses. Cool design, kickass theme, and I also like his bullshit, "I'm gonna smash you to pieces. No regen from this," and I just imagine The Stranger getting somehow even more progressively pissed. You can see The Stranger's rage through his body-language. The Stranger even draws out The Chain's death longer than any others.

@@bungerbungerbunger246 I love the lack of buildup too and how it just throws you right into a super intimidating looking boss and how the song progressly gets more chaotic as the duel goes on. I got chills when I heard those sirens my first playthrough like I immediately knew I was in for a good game.

Those soft drums in the melee phases and softer miniscule parts make me think that maybe this boss is less of a sadistic monster to anyone else but you. Perhaps he was a great person before you crash landed. But then you took something very valuable to him. Perhaps his family. Or his entire neighbourhood. Or his love interest. Or maybe he just cares about his planet a lot. Whatever it was, you ruined a completely kind hearted person.

This may not be my FAVOURITE sound-wise, but imo it's one of the most dynamic and add more to the gameplay than many others (with You're Mine's Complete Arrangement as a good competitor). Even though he's the 'tutorial boss', I find the Furior version really fun since he doesn't use an excessive amount of projectile/wave attacks like The Scale does, and I'm not a fan of that guy's last phase.
