The watermelon made me laugh because it reminds me of a prank my grandfather pulled on one of his neighbor friends. The friend would often pick up a watermelon from my grandfather's watermelon patch. It was ok with my grandfather but I think my grandfather thought maybe he was taking advantage. So one afternoon my grandfather and some friends and hid near the watermelon patch. One took a shotgun. When his neighbor and some of his buddies stopped to get another watermelon he was surprised with the sound of the shotgun going off and various men hollering "The thieves are back! Get 'em boys! Beat their butts!" Well, there were people running in all directions and my grandfather and his friends chased them until they had to stop because they were laughing too hard. When you live in the country you make your own entertainment. There were no hard feelings.

Snopes was good for the first 5 years of operation, then got very "MISSING CONTEXT-y" The one that made me stop visiting their site was the Chelsea Clinton one where someone asked if she was paid a million dollars to do nothing at NBC. Snopes filed it as false, because it was $600,000, not a million. I just threw my hands in the air and was like "you just picked the question that had the wrong amount so you could say false!"

They don't guarantee $0.50 raise though, in small letters they guarantee "up to" $0.50 raise each year so they can give them a one penny raise every year and not break their word. Also they say starting pay is $16 but then in small letters saying "Starting pay is $13/hr + benefits = $16".

I'd add that a max of 0.50$ increase in a year mean you quickly hit a very bad ceilling? 0.50$ on a 15$/h would already mean max of 3.3% which can often be under inflation...
