He knew exactly what he was doing. He never went too far with what he did with Kathy (where the interpretation of his “inspection” would be more uncomfortable to audiences and probably herself). And Wayne later remarked “He’s so gentle!” meaning he played up the motions to the audience but was actually very careful with how he handled his costars’ bits.

It is what made them great.. to think so quickly and make it funny. The fact that Colin could confidently grab his friends like that is just hilarious. He wasn't afraid of going "anywhere" with any of them. Like the Boa Constrictor "lets make a date". If Ryan wanted to "swallow" Colin again, Colin was game. But Ryan had put into the minds of everyone something totally different. And this made for a great game of chicken and Colin won, because Colin will not be out done and Ryan knew it..lol
