Professor Tomo- new to the channel... took to heart the "have I failed as a musician?" video and using that as a platform to review bigger life questions - I am corporate attorney and "decent guitarist" (with a lot to learn (from you!) aspiring to just play music... you are inspiring and an amazing teacher - thanks!

Awesome session. Over many years of playing I seemed to have developed some odd way of strumming such rhythms whereby I use no pick and kind of brush the strings with the back of my fingers and thumb. I guess out of having had to find something that would push me over the hump. So here, trying to apply your technique makes me feel like a total beginner! Tomo would you be able to cover the rhythm guitar in as played by Ramsey Lewis Quartet - Sun Goddess (EWF) in one of our vids someday?

I think I just noticed why I may be struggling with this. You use the LH middle finger to mute the sound which remains more or less straight all the while ring finger and the pinky are curving slightly when pressing the string to produce the sound. I seem to have difficulties achieving that. 😄

Yes, if you try to play funky rhythm guitar or any fancy rhythm guitar... it won't work with even 10000 hours! Because you need to prepare your foundation techniques that can support your musical examples. That's why just learning songs quick... wont work well as you are studying learning guitar.
