Joe is a recovering alcoholic, and loved other things as well. The Eagles wanted him back as their guitarist for the "Hell Freezes Over" tour in '95, and insisted he get his act together if wanted back in. He did, and his recovery has been ongoing ever since. Congrats to Joe for that!

The next logical James Gang song would be "Walk Away." HOWEVER, you ABSOLUTELY have to listen to Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good" if you haven't already. He's the guitarist in the James Gang (and would eventually be in the Eagles, if you didn't know that already). It's got everything but the kitchen sink in there. It's long. It's got sections. Good lyrics. A little keyboard action. It's right up Andy's alley. Another good Joe Walsh song would be "Rocky Mountain Way."

I know you guys aren’t big power trio fans, but that’s where all the amazing guitar riffs from the late 60’s-early 70’s originated. That’s also the source of most legendary rock/blues guitarists: Hendrix, Clapton, Gibbons, Trower, Walsh, Beck, Stevie Ray, & more. You commented that Trower sounded expectedly like the genre, but you need to realize that all these guys played riffs and styles that we were all hearing for the first time. Seminal stuff.

Robin Trower didn't play a damn thing that Jimi hadn't already played. LOL He was a great guitar player and master of the style, but there isn't a single thing about Trower's solo stuff that sounded like it was "being heard for the first time." He just did a really good job of mastering an already burgeoning style.

My older brother played this all the time on our parents stereo in the living room when they weren’t home. At age 14, I was so captivated by the drumming. It was far more enjoyable to listen to and try to learn than the simple basic 4/4 just keeping the beat that was on the radio at the time. This and Chicago had my full attention as the drummers used the entire kit, not just bass drum, snare, hi-hat with the obligatory cymbal crash every 4 bars

Right... the James Gang opened for The Who in 1970 for and handful of dates in the US and the U.K. Pete and Joe became friends and at one point Joe gifted Pete a Gibson. Pete recently told the story that he later sold that guitar to help fund a sailboat purchase and he hoped that Joe wasn’t cross with him. The song “Sheraton Gibson” on Pete’s first solo album was written after a day of hanging out with some of the members of the James Gang during that 1970 tour.
