Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding - Elton John
Музыка
The first track on Elton John's album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" (1973) is actually two separately composed tracks which was combined to make one big track called "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding". The song consist of the instrumental "Funeral For A Friend" followed by "Love Lies Bleeding". The song is very versatile and contains many different styles of playing which makes it a challenge to play. This is also what makes the track very fun to play!
The song is heavily played live, and has been used as a concert opener through out Elton John's touring career. Usually you would find the track in the beginning of the live set or in the middle of the live set!

Finally! I found a cover that’s not only beautifully played, but played perfectly in-time. This is a rare gem of a pianist, and I’m in awe of the talent here. Just wow.

I honestly don’t understand how you managed perfectly replicate Elton’s style… You are incredible!
AMAZING!! I "tinker" with a lot of EJ's songs, play by ear, never learned to read music, never had a lesson. Apparently I'm playing in the right key here, but not playing the intro correctly, and that progression mid song has always had me flummoxed, but now I know where to go to get to that crescendo...THANK YOU. I could never come close to playing that incredibly, but I satisfy myself and a few friends with my, admittedly rudimentary version. Recently been noodling with "Tiny Dancer", (which would be a walk in the park for this guy). Pretty good with "Your Song", "Rocket Man", "Come Down In Time", ANY EJ song, but I LOVE TRYING to jam out to FFAF/LLB. I WISH I COULD DO THAT!!!!!! TRULY wonderful, and masterful playing, Captain Fantastic!
Brilliant! You have the beginning left thumb funeral procession step beats in this piece! So many people miss that. Wow! And you have Love Lies Bleeding! No one does that! -- This is so good. You did such a good job. Just amazing. Beautifully done. So nice. Thank you!
Amazing job on this one. It’s like a marathon. A tough one to do for sure especially matching his live playing so well. Thank you.
The legend has returned! And on my birthday too! Thank you for this!
You still remain to me just completely incredible in the way you play and the way you perform! Thank you!
This piece of song is a masterpiece 👌 Esta pieza de canción es una obra maestra 👌
That was great! I feel tired after watching this keyboard workout.
My favorite cover of this yet. Plus most people just stop after FFAF. This was amazing. ThaNKS SO MUCH.
Wow, just perfect!
This is so awesome man. Now I have to relearn it with the live style you’ve covered so well. Thanks for the camera angle to help me out, much appreciated.

i’m a bit late to listen to this piece, but i transcribed it and learned it. this is one of my favorite pieces i’ve played. i don’t usually comment on any youtube videos, especially a year after they were posted, but i have to say how awesome this song is and how awesome you are!
I’d love a sweet painted lady one! You are so, so talented, amazing work!
LEFT HAND: This song is complicated, and one of his greatest. The original, Elton Would pound the cord , not Rock it back and forth ; The octave, yet would resort to doing just that Teeter Todder the Left hand. Its tough, bcause its lik th old Rub the Stomach , whitle tp the top of head all at once. You did a STELLAR JOB. WE LOVE IT.
I have been waiting for this one. One of my favorite songs by Elton. Thanks so much for this.
this is just PERFECT, i'm mpressed by this performances in all your videos, congratulations!!!! standing ovation!!
All I can say is, “Wow Dude”, f’ing impressive. You are talented!
This is glorious! This is a song I play.. this is so helpful.. so close! 🥰 wow
Beautiful! I could only hope and dream of playing that good! Wish I had stuck with my piano lessons in middle school!
Spot on to live versions I’ve heard. Fantastic
Beautifully played, would have liked to hear the synth opening as well.
Are u kidding me? Amazing! Best rock concerto ever written and you nailed it better than anyone. Jealous and so stoked at same time.
can you bennie and the jets in the mood on your new rd 2000, btw great job on accomplishing his iconic piano sound
What a talent!! No music 😲 I am 🤢 with envy!
I had to listen to it again. I'm just amazed. You did such a good job with this. Man...... Wow!
So So pleased you are back. Love this piece of Music and you play it excellently.
A masterpiece❤
Elton John Gen 2 is alive and well - Amazing Cover and beyond any other - thank you so much to the dedication of detail you provide all of us souls on youtube who love EJ's music, talent and persona...!
You amazingly pulled it off and beautiful brother 👍👍👍🙏
For anyone wondering how to recreate the sound, he used the "modern" piano setting. The default sound is a roland r1000, which came out in the 80's. On a Nord, you can get very specific and blend the sound of the rd1000 and the yamaha s4 (which he might be doing here, too) to get the genuine Elton sound. The RD2000 is arguably the greatest stage piano on the market right now. It's soundbank is one of the most expansive I've ever seen.
Welcome Back!! I LOVE this cover!!!!! Keep it up!
Stellar is an understatement !
Amazing versión, tempo... Congratulations!!!
Amazing!!!!!!
Outstanding!!!
Perfect !!!!
Dude you flat tore it up. I am a drummer and I used to play along with the live version of this off of Elton's live album Here And There. This has always been one of my favorite Elton songs. I would say my favorite album of his is Captain Fantastic And the Brown Dirt Cowboy. here And There would be second. I also play keys and I just recently got the Roland Fantom 88 key. I love it. I wish I could play this song on the keyboard. My hat's off to you sir. Well done.
Wow!!! Brilliant!!! 🤩❤️
Te pasaste genio 🙏
I missed you, glad you're back! ❇️

Wow. Man do I suck at piano. This proves it.
Beautiful as usual. Thanks. I just picked up a Roland RD-1000 yesterday so need to get practicing some Elton songs! Do i hear a touch of chorus in your setup here?
HE HAS RETURNED
YOOOO I WAS LOOSING HOPE WOULD NEVER COME BACK YEAHHHHH
OMGGGG. Epic. Nice RD2000 Can you tell me how you started playing music by ear??
AHHHH YOU’RE BACK!!! Amazing as always!! Do you think you’ll ever do any tutorials?
This is insane! Did you learn to play by ear or was it a talent you could always do?
@thomasglass7223
Жыл бұрын
playing by ear mainly refers to the ability to hear and transcribe a song efficiently from audio only. its not really to do with technique which is what you seem to be asking about
Hey Lime can you play a deep cut cover as in 'Spiteful child' from jump up?
What piano sound is this called on the rd2000?
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!
Amazing!!! Btw, how do you recreate that Elton's piano sound? I've trying to recreate it but I couldn't, thanks!
Hey I’m new here. I recently subscribe. You play excellent. Can you do tiny dancer next. Keep up the good work man. 😁
How long do you work on a song before your ready to present it? Have you been working on this one for a while?
@LimeCovers

This one took a while, but usually not too long. This one has so many elements, that I took a while to get most of it right!
Stock piano sound? Any pdf of this version?
hello. Do you have the score, if not where can I have your version? thank you .michel
do you have the piano sheet from that song?
What speakers do you use? Sounds great.
Could you tell me what transcription you started with(if any)? Thank you. Bought this album back in ‘73. Still my favorite.
What sounds did you overlay for this piano sound?
I’ve heard your covers so many times that I hear I’m still standing, philladelphia freedom and rotten peaches in this video if that makes any sense
Glad your back, in the last few months I’ve been watching your videos trying to learn and replicate the Elton John style and I want to thank your because without your videos this would not have been possible PD: I’D love to see your playing Sad Songs ( love the London 1993 version ), Tonight and I Think I’m Gonna Kill Myself ( recording the top ) :)
