Funeral Diner - I Was The Sword
Музыка
Funeral Diner - I Was The Sword from their split 9" with Ampere.
Lyrics: The first morning, the first time you realize you've laid it to rest yourself.
That god died in you, and I couldn't save you, even then.
"Lord come into my life."
These scars that never heal and the clarity that allows you to feel.
Enveloped, like the dead enveloped.
I wanted to change.
As if being discarded were that easy and the nights ended up being that empty.
It's so much more free, you were led by no one here.
This place is warm the change is definite.
And I've been stripped down, time and time again.
And left for the gray, and the cold.
Your voice changes pitch and blurs, like a storm carries a ship, you couldn't save me even then and I should have known that.

It really makes me sad how all these old bands just faded into obscurity when they've made some of the most powerful music I and many other people ever actually heard.

Personally, I think this is their greatest song. Oddly appropriate for it to be one of their last ever releases. Like a final bang that would forever resound throughout the ages.

Been listening to this repeatedly the last week, since discovering it. I’m an addict, of many vices. I’m starting fresh tomorrow it’s been decided. I won’t let the seas of my compulsions carry me any further.

I remember back in 2015 I was stuck in Perth airport for 12 hours with no money and 30 minutes free airport WiFi. All I did was play this KZread video on repeat. This is literally one of my biggest inspirations. The way the screamer channels himself through his vocals so emotively that we can all connect to, and the whole emotion of the vocals and song helps relieve your deepest emotions

This song is like running thru the woods naked at night under a full moon, you turn to the right and see a cave with a light glowing from within, you reach the glow and notice that it is a screen, a computer screen with some dumbass on youtube poetically writing about how some song makes them feel.

When "you couldn't save me even then and I should have known that" hits ya late at night thinking about shit god damn last night was rough
This song goes hard on drums at the end. It's a good cardio song because of that. I just imagine I'm the drummer breaking my sticks mid-performance and I wake up from my zoned out listening to find I've ran miles. Also I'm bleeding somehow...
I like to imagine this is one of those underground bands youd only bring up to flex on someone to show you know music

Yeah, I think it is. This is a fairly popular song though so I know that some people would be like "you just like it because it's popular🤓". Music freaks can suck.
i adore bands like these because it makes me remember why i love time so much. no matter the time feelings will always be consistent and masterpieces like this are made.
yo I just listened to this after having it on my watch later for months and it's fucking incredible
Too this day I don't think I've heard another song that has resonated with me like this one. The end of the song most specifically. The way he describes powerlessness.. "like a storm carries a ship". It almost brings me too tears Everytime.
I keep coming back here to get sadder
this song, two more, and lie in headlights are what nietzsche and wagner talked about together in regards to bringing back the potency of greek tragedy in music form. it would be hard to state just how beautiful, nuanced, and poetic these compositions are.

Agreed. It's also reminiscent of the smell of the forest just outside the city. Just slightly removed from humanity, where things go wherever they want and outreach into the human side of things but inevitably get chopped back and grow the other way instead, avoiding pain again.

Now this is real screamo, the kind of screamo teens should know about. Instead they're being fed post-hardcore. In their minds somehow that post-hardcore genre magically became screamo.
