Fundulopanchax gardneri Nsukka from Eggs to Fry. 1 + 1 = 12+

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Great killifish to start out with. Other than jumping, a fish for community tanks if you have lots of plants. Or give them their own tank and they become a egg and fish factory. Here is what to do with the eggs and like magic, the fry hatch and swim.

The clip of the fry bursting from the egg... 👍. Very cool

Very interesting David. I also enjoyed your recent videos on infusoria cultures. Do the alfalfa pellets contain the infusoria, or were they in the outdoor water before adding the pellets or green beans?

I think the infusoria are in the outdoor water or filter squeezings or whatever you use as the water source. The alfalfa pellets are pretty dry. They just appear to make a really good food source for the smallest bacteria to grow and them be food for the larger ones. Plus the pellets are hard so they soften up slowly making a long lasting culture.

@@GrowAndEatThis Thank you. Makes sense that the water must have the infusoria from outside.

do you ever run into issues with mold when you pack away the entire mop? i've heard of that method used for clown/rocket killifish because their eggs are so difficult to pick. i'm keeping gardneri in a sort of colony in a 20 gallon and they're doing really well so far. my tanks are species only but what sort of fish would you say are good picks to share a tank with these guys?

Have to dry the mop until it is 'just damp'. Almost dry but not quite. Never had a mold problem when the mop is this damp. I do the clown killifish in very dense java moss or naja moss. Lots of it and just let the fry hatch and grow up. Needs to be dense foliage and this works pretty well. When I see little fry I will feed them some of my infusoria. Just turkey baster drips into the greenery.

If you have enough plants so they have hiding places I have kept gardneri with apistos, german blue rams, different tetras. Corydoras will hunt down every egg and eat them all. Ancistrus do not bother them either.
