I’m an equipment operator apprentice, I think crawler loaders are super cool machines, but I can’t for the life of me get the hang of one.

I'm mainly a wheel loader guy, but the flexibility and price of these old track loaders has me strongly considering one for a clearing/road-cutting machine that can also load trucks. Thank you for the video!

@@rp1645 I work on mines, not in construction. So long as you keep your floor clean enough not to jar you, ruts are a non-issue. However, we've already got a 938G, a couple skid-steers, and a pair of EIMCO LHDs, so loading trucks of all sizes with wheeled machines is covered.

Drott was the patent holder on the 4 in one bucket for many years, that's how it got the name. Now a days anyone can make one so the trade name for these buckets are 4 in one. They are very handy. I have one on my backhoe/loader. I don't think Drott is in business anymore.

Drott also made the first rear engine track loader. I recall that case bought them out

Jackal. DROTT made the loader arm & such. BUCYRUS. made attachments for machines also. Company such as International made a dozer body then other Company made operating arm or Diggers. Some of the Biggest Contractors on big projects would make there own special attachments like putting two D-8 side by side attached with only 1 operator. Just some amazing stuff thay had there people make.

Don't take this machine in the swamp. It will get stuck big time.

It is wrong to change the speed from 1 to 2 while the engine has a higher RPM without decelerate?

  • @JamestownSawmill

If the gears are independent, such as a 1, 2, 3, 4 shift pattern, like on a truck, then yes, deaccelerate. Most crawlers and bulldozers use a transmission shift 1-2 and 3-4 for gearing shift pattern. The shift from fist to second will be done mechanically. Hope this helps. @@JamestownSawmill For example Komatsu D55s-3 has 2 speed forward 2 speed backward, it is any problem if i move from 1 to 2 without deacelerate?

@@oanaoana8594 www.ebay.com/itm/Komatsu-D55S-3-crawler-loader-specification-sheet-brochure-/352651189418 All crawler-loaders and bulldozers have a deaccelerator pedal. This must be used before shifting gear speed and direction. Above is a link to what we believe is an operator's manual offered on a site. We have only included this to assist you in searching for a reference manual for your use. Hope this helps.

The newer Caterpillar rear engine machines have a hydrostatic transmission. These don't have a decelerater pedal. You can swap directions and never take a break.

I have a Case 850b track loader and it has a Accelerator pedal. not a deaccelerator.
