I doubt she got burned by the liquid nitrogen. It's somewhat impossible unless she stuck her finger in for 10-20 seconds, which would be her own fault. It's called the leidenfrost effect. Due to liquid nitrogen being so cold, and the temperature difference between your hand and the nitrogen is so large. Your hand becomes the equivalent of a scorching hot stove in comparison. When the liquid nitrogen comes into contact with your skin, it evaporates instantly and creates a cushion of steam. The rest of the liquid nitrogen does not come into contact with your skin because of this steam, which acts almost like a barrier. You could legitimately pour liquid nitrogen on your hand, all the droplets would roll off and you may get a stinging sensation as if you were outside in the winter without gloves. That's it. Perhaps she had this stinging sensation and worried, though from small exposure, she couldn't have got frostbite.

The nitrogen can freeze the gloves and therefore freeze your fingers from indirect contact. You can pour liquid nitrogen on your hand and it will just roll off because of the massive difference in the temperature between your hand and the -320 degree liquid nitrogen.

I had a teacher like that! He told us right at the start of the school year that to pass his class, we would have to set Parts of ourselves on FIRE! I really loved that guys class! Set parts of my self on fire 3 times, and played with Electricity a lot!
