The trainer got one of Those hook sticks on his back there used to hook the elephants ears to make them do what there told. ITS ABUSE BIG TIME. it hurts them.

Stop spreading lies. These sticks are used as an extension of the arm. It is used in training with all large animals like elephants, rhinos, giraffes etc. It's the same as a riding crop for horses. It's not meant to beat with it but to reach body parts where you can't reach with your arm. What you call a "hook" is a ca. 5cm long end piece which imitates a human finger. It is slightly curved but not able to hook onto something. This is a zoo in Germany not an elephant farm in Bangladesh.
