Today's video explores the unique Peugeot 106, an all-electric Olympic version from 2001. We were surprised to learn about this rare car with a sibling in the Citroen C15. Produced in limited numbers, around 2000-3000 worldwide, this car represents early 2000s electric vehicle technology.
Inside, the 2001 Peugeot 106 boasts a simple, 90s-era design with ample space for four passengers. Under the hood, it features a 20-kW electric motor and a unique setup where gasoline can be used for interior heating. The car's charging system is also demonstrated, using a special wire that plugs into a 220V outlet.
The Peugeot 106 performs well on the road for urban driving, with a maximum speed of 90-100 km/h. The owner has added a controller to monitor various parameters, making the driving experience more informative.
We also discuss some common mechanical issues with French cars, focusing on the Peugeot 106's torsion bar suspension system.
Overall, we enjoyed getting to know this rare and interesting electric car from the early 2000s and hope to see more unique vehicles like this on the road. Special thanks to the owner for letting us explore and drive this cool car! See you in the next video!
