Umm. He was actually running from the officer when the officer decided to chase him and deploy the taser on him. It was the OFFICER who went hands-on and it sort of looked like he did it as a knee-jerk reaction as the driver proceeded to approach the passenger side to retrieve the documents the officer had requested. At first, the driver stood by the open car door. You can see he's waiting for the passenger to gather the requested documents for him. This is definitely a case to follow closely.

No, his own body is doing exactly what he's telling it to do. And even tho he's saying those words, doesn't mean that's what he's telling his body to do. His brain is telling his body to resist and has no desire to stop resisting, so it isn't. He's saying those words to try and lull the officer into loosening up enough for him to break free, and to strengthen his case for when he thinks he's going to sue the city. But he's too dumb to understand that he had a better chance at dying than getting money out of it, if he could get the officer to slip up in the fight. But that ghetto lottery is an addiction that MANY face. This situation with the officer is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! That fucking DA is out of his mind in trying to charge him with 2nd degree murder. The only reason he did it, is so he could say, "hey i tried, but it's up to the jury to decide guilt." Because he knows damn well that those charges will never stand up. NEVER! He knows that, but he charged him anyway so he could look good to the left with no regard for what it's doing to the officer and his family, even when acquitted. He's like, "he'll never get convicted so might as well make sure I'm protected and look like the good guy here." The motherfucker was driving around in a car without the right plates (is a good sign he's up to no good), he was driving on a suspended license due to multiple drug use charges (8 of them to be exact... 8!), he was driving drunk while THREE TIMES over the legal limit, he missed a stop sign bc he was so fucked up, he had multiple active FELONY warrants, and he had a history of violence and drug crimes including domestic abuse. So regardless of all that, he decides to run from the police, then to fight the police, then to TAKE THE COPS FUCKING TASER! So, being that the officer was alone, he pulled his gun and shot him ONE time after telling him to let go of his taser multiple times. Bc if the dude had been able to fire that second taser round at him, he could have easily taken the cops gun and killed him. Easily. And anyone willing to take an officers weapon, can't be trusted to do the right thing. PERIOD.... and yes, the taser is a weapon. You lose the benefit of the doubt that you won't use it to harm the officer right then and there when you take, or try to take, the officers weapon. Did he deserve to die bc of all this? No. It's not a capital offense. BUT, if he is killed bc of it while resisting the way he did, so what. Justified. The officer doesn't deserve to die just so he can give the felon a benefit of the doubt that he won't use it to harm him.

It’s a basic human reaction to try to move the taser away from you that’s why usually officers tase further away so the criminals do not have time to grab the taser. This police officer is clearly not good. He shot this unarmed man in the back of the head for no reason he could’ve punched him a couple times …he was weak and I guess he just resulted killing him. Which is terrible this man did not to lose his life because the officer didn’t know how to handle the situation properly.

It’s just a bit weird seeing him shot but not even two weeks ago an officer was stabbed by a woman but she was free and not shot? I thought it was in their protocol so why was she not shot? A few things, I am a Black Man, I have been victim and police misconduct while living in NYC a few times. I was also a cop for a while. Everyone also asking how a misdemeanor traffic stop turns into a death sentence. The officer was at no fault, the suspect chose how it played out. Not too many places in America will you just walk away from a traffic stop and they allow you to. He struggled and resisted many times after being told to stop numerous times. He grabbed taser at which point officer is justified in using deadly force. Sad he had no choice, if suspect would have teased him he would have been incapacitated and maybe taken his gun and shoot him or beat him to death. Also he had to watch the other one while fighting the first. Very bad day for all involved but he had no choice in how this simple traffic stop played out.

The man is dead, because he failed to obey the the police officer attempting to bring this criminal to justice for committing a crime. ie. driving a stolen car. You see, In a civilized society in order to establish civility for all, we bestow certain authority (the power to detain or arrest) upon trusted individuals we refer to as the "authorities." The man failed to cooperate with the authority ( police officer ) which is a felony making him a criminal. His actions caused the situation to escalate thus endangering the police officer as well as the lives of other members of our society. Unfortunately, the criminal paid for his criminal activities with his life, which is tragic, but what is more tragic is that this police officer will likely have his career and life ruined for simply doing his very important and essential job of maintaining an orderly society . Any doubts as to why crime is out of control in this country.....?

@rogerarmstrong3223 Oh yeah I most definitely agree with your comment, and as you said, it's tragic that the criminal had to pay with his life. I also think that if the criminal didn't resist the arrest, he would most definitely still have his life. I also hope the cop didn't lose his job, it's hard enough for them to get fired when they are actually at fault but I would hope it's not the case with this cop as we can clearly see who's at fault in this video. Just a sad scenario that I wish no one would ever have to deal with, but my expectation of everything being at peace is unrealistic as this world is far from perfect.

true, but as a society we must demand "law and order" so that we can live in peace. We must insist that our so-called leaders enforce the existing laws and prevent them from "bending" to the will of the left simply to save their cushy jobs. We deserve to live in a safe orderly society. Remember they have taxpayer provided protections i.e. bodyguards and the like. Let's defund the politicians who don't protect us and fund the police who do......

The video starts out that Patrick Lyoya was shot and killed after a traffic stop. They make it sound like he was killed just from a traffic stop. Actually, the traffic stop had little to do with him getting shot. It was caused from Lyoya fighting the cop and grabbing the cop's tazer. Hell, since this happened in the morning, they could have just said, "Man shot and killed by police after finishing breakfast". That could be true, too, but had nothing to do with his death. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

So the taser was deployed already, you can see the thin wires running off to the left of the screen. That means that this particular taser is useless as you have to put a new cartridge on it before it can fire again. You don't get to shoot a person in the back of the head at point blank over this. Cop had the control, he had the suspects back.. anyone with any training would have had no issue subduing the suspect from this position OR keep him down until backup arrives. If both of those fail he could have disengaged from the suspect - suspect was tired out, doubtful he would be able to go anywhere. No need to deploy lethal force from the rear position. All the haters can post under me and down vote this all you want, but this cop will be found guilty and will go to prison.

It is surprising. In some other cases where the victim ISN'T resisting and is still shot by police during a routine traffic stop, the officers beat those charges if any came forward. In the case of George Floyd, it makes absolute sense for those officers to be sentenced, but this is a lot harder to call. Though Patrick was unarmed when stopped initially, he was actively resisting, wrestling with the officer and did grab the officer's taser, which does make him a threat at that point. The officer looks justified. Maybe the jury reached a guilty verdict because the officer COULD HAVE backed off, drawn his weapon and still shot the suspect, but from a different angle. This would've avoided him murdering this man execution style. Though, watching at the footage, it doesn't look like he meant to shoot him in the head, and the officer himself seems shaken up by it, judging by his initial reaction.

@@jacksherman5696 Okay. Cool. As I look back at the video, the final action of the officer was not the most necessary, but I would not support murder charges at all. The reasoning for a lack of manslaughter charges was, in the prosecution's opinion, due to a lack of "heat of passion" in the moment of Lyoya's death. Which, imo, is bullshit. I would 100% support voluntary manslaughter charges, but nothing more. He will appropriately lose his job as a police officer and likely never serve in such a position again. Beyond that and voluntary manslaughter charges, I think anything else would be unjust.

Then cop shot him point blank in back of head. Being on 2 different trials and finding criminals guilty, I wouldn't or couldn't justify this use of deadly force. It was a mistake this officer made and he will have to prove his innocence in court. I can't defend a murderer for murder. Just remember there are multiple witnesses around and no one will defend what they just seen. If he felt in immediate danger he would of detained the man at gun point. At this time he knows he fucked up and is railing together a story. This video is all you need to see and all there is.
