Volkanovski is an unnatural athlete. I've never heard of a rugby prop under 5"11. They usually weigh 120kg. Volkanovski at 5"6 and 97 kg was pushing them around. Maybe Islam has more experience, but Volkanovski in my opinion has more raw power and can maybe use that to his advantage.

He can take Volk down a hundred times and I’m sure he wouldn’t tire, whereas Volk who’s wrestling technique and experience isn’t a match for Islam will have to use more brute force to get up if he’s taken down. This along with being hit with knees to the body in the clinch and having to carry extra muscle at 155 is why I think Volk tires after 2-3 rounds, then it’s all Islam from there if it wasn’t already

I agreed with this at first and your thesis holds water, if Islam can take him down easily. My main problem is there is no guarantee Islam will be able to spam takedowns. Middleweights can’t take volk down. Will he be able to take him down enough to tire him out? If not, Volk has more speed standing even with the bulk

So instead of trying to keep guessing when it's going to happen he's just going to do his thing meanwhile. He intends to try to defend them, but isn't going to be paranoid wondering when.
