    I actually bought a kit on Amazon for about $14 which included fuel lines, spark plug, primer bulb, carb, and air filter. I figured it has been about 10 years, since I was able to last start. This video was a perfect guide on doing a full tune up. I cleaned all the components as well. Baby started right up and runs like a champ. Thanks a bunch for posting.

    You are the man. Thank you. I have two of them that have been sitting out in my garage for about the same time (3 to 5 years, for sure before Covid). And, the bulb has deteriorated and the inside of the gas tank looks pretty clean; because, I always empty the tank if I am leaving it. But, still, I've never done a full tune-up like you did. But, I will do this. I didn't know they were so simple.

    Thank you for this video. I have good knowledge about maintaining lawn mowers. But I have yet to understand weed eaters. But now I know more thanks to you; I am going to go buy a gas powered weed eater cause my yard is way to big for an electric. And the struggle of pulling a long power cord all over the yard has become tiring.

    When you replace the fuel line, an easier way to get it started the first time is to remove the spark plug and put a little gas directly into the cylinder and then reinstall the spark plug and pull the starter.

  • @TheRykerDane

    @TheRykerDane

    Tyler Gurley on these, they don't spin freely compared to others. It spins with the turn of the engine. so I wouldn't think your engine would be locked up if the trimmer part doesn't spin but its possible. try taking the spark plug off and try and turn. This will let out some compression.

One thing I noticed is my pull cord is very rough and choppy to pull, not smooth like yours. Could this be a twisted head from things getting too hot? It stopped running on me again so i figured spark plug. If that doesn't do it then maybe coil pack. IF it still doesn't run trash bin!.....lol

So I took this machine and gave it a good Tune up. I had to spend some money on some parts but hey its worth it. The Carburator kit I bought for 12.99 from ebay not bad for that site. 2007 model unit got it running only have a problem with a fuel cap leak might pick one of those up if I find one. Nice video, but you installed your fuel lines backwards. The large diameter line feeds air from the primer bulb to the tank (to presurize the tank). The small diameter line is supposed to be the fuel pickup line. You can install them backwards and it'll work, but not as well as if they're installed the correct way.

    To find out what size fuel line you need, measure the I.D. and O.D. of the fitting on the carb. Get a tape measure with inches and 32nd. With the muffler off, check the cylinder and piston. Clean the piston with a small screwdriver. Use a spline tool to adjust the mixture. Set the lo mixture for highest RPM'S at idle and hi mixture for highest RPM'S at full-throttle. Run it awhile and readjust if necessary. Set the idle just until the spool just stops or as necessary. Amazon has 12" hemostat pliers to replace fuel lines and filters.

    i enjoyed that. let me tell u this. i took a mechanical apititude test once and the first and easiest problems was: and they showed a picture of threee gears all connected. And they said if the first gear is moving clockwise which way will the 3rd gear be moving. I tried and tried to figure it out, but couldn't. I made a zero on that test and therefore was not hired by Roman Hass Chemical plant in Houston Texas in early 1955. Do you think I dare break down my weed-eater like you did?

    No, I wouldn't. Hopefully, no offense, @AllenD. Unless you've taken a lot of that new drug Modafinil (or, which is always sold as Provigil), I'm not sure that I would. You might do more damage than its worth, and you'll probably have to pay someone (who is really mentally gifted at this stuff) more money because things got broken. That's why I always pay people to do things. I'm an average person with an IQ that's sufficient to get a job and keep it. But, I'm not as mentally competent as this genius fix-it guy, who is the KZreadr that made this video.

    Maybe you can help me out. I have 4 different weedeaters, echo straight, ryobi straight, homelite curved and weedeater feather lite curved. This past week I worked on all but the echo, (which needs a crankseal). I noticed the homelite and the ryobi have identical motors. My question is which company manufactures them or is there a 'mother' company that produces most all machines. I knoe john deere used echo units like sears craftsman rider mowers used to be made by roper. Just wondering.

    @@TheRykerDane Thank you for replying. In my earlier years I was a small engines mechanic for a JD dealer. Over the years I kept progressing to more and larger machines, I don't believe there is much of anything I have'nt worked on. Up until 4 yrs ago I spent 16 years (one company) as an industrial hydraulics technican. As a engineering solutions we built, rebuilt and serviced machinery used in the offshore oil & gas industry. Would have still been there but I left to enter treatments for stage 3 lung cancer. I BEAT the cancer but still trying to get over the ill effects of the chemo and radiation, thats some mean stuff, I pray for all those who have to deal with this disease. If I ever get to better health I'll return to work. Just not as physical as I was. Their waiting on me. I really enjoyed what I did there. Thanks again, I think I'll try researching Techtronics a bit.

    you cant clean a carb by just spraying it with brake-clean you have to clean the jets too, and a less dangerous way to clean the engine is to leave everything on the engine and just take all the plastic covers off of it , start it leave it running spray it with purple-power or super-clean ,let it set for a second then spray it with a water hose.
