Great video! And as from time to time you promote some great music. Never heard Upon a Burning body before. Great band 🙂 It was also a great walk through of the new infotainment system. I'm about to change car from my ID4 1st to Tesla Model Y or VW ID4 GTX 2024 (will decide tomorrow feb 17 ) so it was great to see the S.W 4.0 before I make the decision.

The s/w seems remarkably better than at launch. Not just better looking but it seems very responsive as well?

That, this looks really, really impressive. The configuration options which you have seem really nice, and at the same time it doesn't look so techy like in Tesla - I mean the widgets with big buttons look much more friendly than the long list in Tesla infotainment. Seems like because of heads-up display, and the screen behind the wheel - you don't need to have crucial information on the Tablet, so you can have more handy widgets there. The biggest flaw of VW ID cars is gone now! That is really promising. Can't wait now for the physical buttons (non haptic) on the wheel :)

Realy nice and informative video... Just a pitty I have a ID3 from 2023 (march)... So I think ID software 4.0 won't be available on my car..... ;-(

I`m not gona lie I`m really interested in ID.4 but the old infontaiment and some other issues were keeping me away from it. On the first look this seems WAAAAAAAAY better than before so we'll see if the ID.4 2024 is so drastically different than the previous model.

Nice video. Tire pressure is even more important on an EV. Pretty disappointing that a fairly upscale EV does not display each tire's pressure.

@@BatteryLife Correct tire pressure is important for driving safety and proper tread wear (thus getting better life of some really expensive EV tires). It's a hassle having to manually check tire pressure, especially in the winter.

Great video. It seems there is some nice improvements. I especially miss the option to lock the car when walking away on my ID.4 with software 3.2. I wish they would include the option to add a few kph to the speed it sets according to the local speed limit, so when the speed limit is 80 it would set it to 83, for example (Alternatively they could make it so the car actually drives the speed that it shows). And lastly it is just so annoying that EU law now dictate that the speed warning will always be activated every time you start the car.

The compressor is the only effect way (in almost any circumstances) to reduce humidity. Turning on AC button merely allows the car to use the compressor for cabin atmosphere, however it doe not necessarily mean the compressor itself is turned on or off. The compressor will always turned on if the battery, e-motor and high-voltage electronics need excessive cooling regardless of the AC button. It is just not practical to make an "automatic" AC mode without using the power from compressor. Another similar case of misuse(most of the time) is that user may enable forced air recirculation and disable AC button at the same time.

@@BatteryLife It is Not actually, the compressor does not turn on currently in your country, the ambient temperature is simply too cold for the R1234yf refrigerant compressor to function just as what I have talked(the AC button does not decide whether the compressor turns on or off, in a PHEV or a BEV, because the high voltage system also has the right to turn on compressor for cooling purpose). If you have the R744 refrigerant compressor(bi-directional heat pump) equipped, then things become a little different. The compressor is then more energy efficient in heating the cabin than the PTC until the ambient temperature below somewhere around -10 °C.

I got my id7 now. And I can't handle the cruise control step. It accidently does 10km/h all the time :) This is the most negative to me untill now. But overall a very decent car.

Thanks for an excelent video! VW have obviously made great progress. Somewhere I have heard that ID4 and ID5will get the same software. Do you know if that is correct? Once again: excellent video!!!

@@lucasdumartin8349 If you order an ID.4 or ID.5 right now you will already get the new engine and software. ID.3 will get a refresh in the next months and will probably start getting delivered with the new software starting around May.

4.0.2 release with minor updates to battery drain. Still have to update at the dealer so no OTA.

Nice video. Mine was delivered today. I love it. I was wondering: how come your sound system setting has 4-band eq plus subwoofer and mine has only 3-band and no subwoofer? ID7 Pro. Am I supposed to activate it?

@@BatteryLife Update: True, I don’t have the Harman Kardon sound system. But the sound quality of what I have surprised me. It is very good. Maybe it is Harman Kardon system without the name on it, with only low-mid-hi frequency controls, and without the surround feature. Of course it’s not the best I’ve heard in a car but it’s really good. I also just returned from an over 1000km trip with the ID7 in sub zero temperatures (-14 to -23 degrees cencius). It was an interesting, and I’m thinking of making a short video about it.

Thanks for the video! With yours first experiments, do you feel that the software 4.0 is more stable than the 3.0 ? For example a common bug with the version 3, is a problem with seat position memory : there is a random reset. Another thing : the initialization of android auto is shorter and more stable with software 4? Thanks!

@@BatteryLife You're right, I have found it! Never knew about it and it's only shown there. Somehow I had 0-ed it since it showed 8000+ while my total is 21000+. Too bad we can't get 1/10 km on the other counters.

No, it needs new hardware, id 3 gets this in the summer or fall. Id.4/5 soon.

Does the car reload correct drive mode after you leave the car and re-enter? In ID software 3.2 this is broken, it will show your selected drive mode but all settings for drivetrain and climate would be reverted to comfort.

Apple CarPlay in my Skoda Superb is not allowing me multitouch (e.g. two fingers pinch to zoom in Google Maps). I'm not sure it's supported anywhere. Does multitouch work with Android Auto in ID.7?

@@BatteryLife yes the heat might be the culprit. But could the outside temperature affect battery consumption too? My consumption was almost twice what was advertised. I was driving an average of 80km per hour maximum.

No. For 4.0 you need the new hardware.

The ID software still looks like its designed for kids beacuse of the happy colors and rounded design. The new software for ID.2 looks much more better and modern imo.

The fact alone that an hour is needed says enough about the crappyness of the software. Software for drivers should be minimalistic and straightforward

Android Automotive is a pile of garbage if you take a look at the source code. Also, the car manufacturers write their on own stuff on top of it anyway.
