    $70k CAD is about £40k GBP, which when you compare to a brand new VW california, they start at £55k GBP - Awesome value!!! Best MTB'ers van build on youtube!

    Yeah but if you are spending £55k on a VW then you need your head testing. Way overpriced and overrated. You could spend £25k and get a much better van.

  • @beemo4

    @@beemo4 You need to think outside the box mate. If you buy a camper van pre made you will always pay way more than a self build. For 25k you could buy a van and convert it yourself. And 25k is a huge budget. Pick up a decent used van for 12k and then spend 12k on the conversion. That would be fitting it out with everything you could imagine to a high standard. I just did my own high quality convertion for less than 10k including buying the van. and wouldn't trade it for a VW. California or not.

    Considering ready made campers based on the Promaster 2500 start at $90K+ USD your van is a great value. You got a van built to address all your needs with far superior workmanship... not a mass built generic camper that has to be adapted. Thanks for giving us a great series of the build out. GREAT van build series, although I do have TWO suggestions. Please please please, firstly, get Kitchen rated fire extinguisher for the living cabin and an electrical extinguisher for the garage... Secondly, a vehicle size trauma kit... They make molle pannels that fit the seat backs, you could then put whatever extra pouches you'd like neatly on the seat back. Again great build.

    Hey Paul, I'm planning a build myself, and I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from your van build. I'm curious about how well the duel climates between the garage and the living area is working out? I know your routing heat back there, but I'm wondering how you determine how much of your heat is being diverted where?

  • @michaelfrymus
    @michaelfrymus4 жыл бұрын

    Questions about the garage: What is the depth? I heard that most have them at 60". But I don't see how it would fit. My current 29er hardtail bike measures to be about 63" long and 32" height (with front-wheel removed). I plan on getting an enduro bike in the future, or at least having someone else's second bike. I want to be safe when I do have a second bike. I was thinking of storing the bike(s) on a sliding tray (like yours) with BOTH bike wheels removed. It would save space on both height and depth, giving me more interior van space. Thought on this?

    Awesome van! Great design! My one concern is regarding the garage.....when you store used items in the shelves/cubby holes, the wood inside will act like sponges if you don't treat them with some kind of sealant.
