- Are you worried about making a lot of money? What if instead, you started worrying about consistency? Today, Ricky is joining us again to bring value and discuss mindset, risk management, and charts. In swing trading, you must understand how stocks move to find your points of interest and trends. This can be accomplished when you have mastered the underlying fundamentals. Learn how to create your thesis and put it to the test! We talk about the benefits of swing trading when you are looking to keep your job concurrently. Ricky discusses how to determine your stops and their correlation to your thesis. When traders understand their stops, this will allow them to build their positions. These concepts fall into risk management. Give yourself the edge to be right! In this video, we also analyze and discuss charts! Watch and obtain some insight from an experienced trader regarding developing consistency!

Realizing a person can be a consistently profitable trader with a ~30% win rate completely changed my perspective. I'm glad that gets mentioned by multiple traders just as Ricky mentioned it during the interview because I feel like it's a very important thing to realize as a beginning trader.

I've seen traders with 15% win rate wildly profitable. It's an inverse relationship. Higher win rate leads to lower risk to reward ratio and vice versa.

This guy is in the top 3 interviewers of all time! He acknowledges what the person is saying by shaking his head but not interrupting with words or sounds. He lets the person speak without interrupting, he asks great questions pertaining to something they said to make the interview run smoothly and not pre written questions that makes the interview keep changing gears and making sharp turns. This was a great interview. I'm just now coming across this channel, so i've been binge watching the videos throughout this week (job gave us the whole week off ftw!). One really important part that Ricky touched on and i'm glad he was able to incorporate the charts in the video was how well he managed his risk. I think a lot of times people say that, but rarely show proof of how they do so on their own. Being able to see that and for him to have the mindset that a few losses won't shake him mentally really helped put everything into perspective and kind of helped shift at least my own trading goals from worrying about the gains to trying to minimize how much I'll lose if trades don't go my way. Keep up the good work, brotha!

This video is so refreshing brother - won 7k last month and now down 5k, almost thinking I'm better off just holding my long term positions and focus on my full time job and forget about this whole swing/day trading stuff especially because I got out of few winning trades early like the example for PTON Ricky gave, that has taken an emotional toll. But I guess everyone goes through these stuff they just don't show it. Appreciate this channel, awesome interviewing skills. :)

I really like how he is thorough in his teaching style. He's going to easily take away the majority of the business in teaching others since most these other "teachers" are enticing new traders into becoming day traders while intentionally failing to give them real understanding of how it all works. You know its hard to get the real information you need by having to rewind numerous pre-recorded videos! All these day trader teachers need to do better if they are accepting payment from the public. Thanks for doing your part in trying to clear it up for people.

It all depends on if it was part of the initial plan.
I started swing trading about 3 months ago and I was so naive I actually thought I invented it. I was just buying very boring, dependable stocks on the dips and selling them when they recovered. I was also doing what I later learned was called guerilla trading (putting in buy orders at levels substantially lower than the current prices to grab real bargains). In 3 months I gained about 6% overall (about 25% annualized?). This was in a market that was down by a percent or two over the same 3 month period. A week ago I got a book on technical analysis and started watching videos on trading. I'm hoping that by having a little actual knowledge I can develop a strategy that will maybe double my rate of return. My goal is to earn 1% per week. Is this realistic?
Awesome info thanks!

Check out Chat with traders - Jason Leavitt interview. You'll very much like it.
Would love your take on something. I have a small account which I started with 1000. My max loss per trade is $10 and max loss per day is $20 using hard stops. Today I failed to enter position because setup was an A- not A+ and I struggle with worrying over cash settling and running out of buying power. I could have made 100+ as the ticker moved $2.00 past where I would have entered with 100 shares. I would have rather lost $10 here then watch it go by. You often talk about how if the potential loss keeps you from taking a trade your size is too much. How do I deal with this situation??? I have been kicking myself and ruined my day because of this. checked out your video regarding missed opportunities but finding it difficult handling missing opportunities due to cash settling and availability rather then the loss, thanks

I'm still trying to find what I want out of the market, as an extremely indecisive person this is what's stopping me from being profitable. Do I base my bias on a 4H or daily chart, do I place trades on the 4H trend or 1H trend. Is it okay for me to take a trade on the opposite of the daily? Maybe if I'm trying to catch a 1H trend then yes, if I'm trying to catch a 4H trend then maybe I shouldn't go against the daily. So many thoughts and choices! I'm just looking for the biggest swings! I want to hold my trades but don't want it to pull back too far, get stopped, and it keeps going my direction, which is why I like the 1H chart, but 1H can get kind of reatic if you're trying to hold swings as well. Anybody have any advice? Videos? Articles?

Day trading for most people will remain a nightmare because the industry push for the fast money romance. If a newbie only swing trade stocks with market cap > $10B ; he or she will make money. The only wrong concept from ricky is about risk. We don't decide risk, we decide only the monetary risk. A trader cannot risk less than $6 per share swing trading AAPL, so if we can afford to risk $100 than the size on the swing trade must be only 16 shares. Any stock is different and has a different risk that only the market decide. That's basic stuff.
