Full Time RV Living Toy Hauler Renovation Tour

Фильм және анимация

Our full-time RV living tour. We renovated a 2014 Keystone Raptor 410LEV. We liked this floor plan because it had/has opposing slides with lots of windows. The kitchen is in the back making this a pretty unique floor plan. Once we settled on the raptor floor plan, we needed to make some serious changes to the layout. At first, we renovated the garage by ripping out the fold-down bench seats that were attached to the happy jack. Then we build bunk beds for two of our kiddos and our eldest boy, took the happy jack loft as his "bedroom." After about 18 months of not having an office for work, we decided to remove the master, king bed, and trade rooms with the kids. We turned the master bedroom into the kid's room and we took the garage. That was better for work because now I could shut the door while taking calls and the kids could do school without us distracting each other. Stephanie also shows the outcome of our slide floor replacement. You can see the first video here: • How to Fix Water Damag... and the second video here: • RV Slide Floor Replace... We could not film the third video of the slide floor repair because it was pouring down rain. However, now you can see the finished product. We still have a little more to do but we have really made great memories renovating "BUCK." That's what we call our rig. We felt comfortable making these crazy changes because we purchased a used rig. It's much easier to make a rig your own when it's used. It takes the pressure off from wondering if it's the best choice for your family. Just because we bought used does not mean that it is the best choice for you and your family. We made a video that can really help if you are struggling to find the right RV for you and your family. You can watch it here: • Best 5th Wheel For Ful...

    Took out my island and picked up a vintage style island on locking industrial wheels at Wayfair. I can unlock when parked and we just roll it around however. Works and looks great, plus it has tons of storage.

    On your island I would suggest a free standing NSF open wire rack island. I bought mine from the thrift store, but they are also sold thru Lowes. And you can add wheels to the bottom of each leg later (2 wheels lock). Later on I enclosed the island with spice racks and a back to hide all the storage.

    Dianne_M_ Kartes Hi Dianne! That is just a two cube cubby from Target! The mail thing was a random find from Hobby Lobby and it’s hanging with real screws. All of our solar blinds were ordered cut to fit from blinds.com and were very affordable!

    This is really inspiring! My hubby and I have talked about doing this and eventually moving back to the West Coast to find our “perfect” city. How long do you park? I am scared about repairs since I hear that it takes forever for things to be fixed at an RV garage.

    Rachel Rangel, typically we stay in one spot for about 3 weeks. However, we have been stationary for about three months because I’m on military orders. You are correct...most RV shops are swamped with work so it can take a long time to get repairs completed. Our rig (knock on wood) has never been in the shop. I handle most of the repairs. We have used a mobile RV technician once. If you buy a brand new rig, you may have to send it back to the shop once or twice. If you buy used, most of the kinks have already been worked out. As soon as we finish up here, we will be heading up the west coast.

    How much was the RV before renovation? How much AFTER renovation? What's the length & sq. ft.? Can u film outside of RV so we can see actual size?

  • @freedomcalling

    @freedomcalling

    4 жыл бұрын

    Our RV was purchased 4 years old so we saved on the depreciation over purchasing new. Unlike a house, renovating an RV usually does not add any value. It’s just preference. Our RV is 43 feet long. With the size of our slide outs, it makes our square footage 389 sq.ft. It’s also 13’6” tall which is pretty standard for toyhaulers and larger fifth wheels. Hope this helps answer your questions. Thanks for watching!

  • @freedomcalling

    @freedomcalling

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey there! We bought our rig 4 years old so it had already depreciated and saved us A TON over buying new. And we have kept our renovation costs pretty low since most of what we have done is just paint, home made curtains, and wallpaper. Cost for parking varies greatly since we are not stationary. We can pay $0 for boondocking or a Thousand Trails site (we have a membership with them) OR we could pay $900+ a month at a campground...we never do that though. We try to save where we can and parking is probably where we save the most!

    4 жыл бұрын

    TWC in the winter we run our heat a lot and spend about $70 per month. In the spring and summer our propane lasts a long time. My wife uses the stove everyday. Our fridge also uses propane when we are traveling or boon-docking. So the propane cost is really not a big expense unless your rig is not insulated or you are in a really cold environment. What areas are you planning to travel?

    @@freedomcalling Well, the plan is we are moving from Texas to North Carolina (Boone) and we actually will be living in it for a while so we can build a home. After that, we will just be using it for weekend trips here and there. We are hoping to get utilities (water, electric) installed first so we can hook up instead of boondocking so I'm hoping to figure out a septic install as well on the property that we will use but then will service the house. I've seen some larger portable septic bins that you can fill up if you dont have a true septic tank. Haven't quite figured that one out yet.
