Static caravans are very spacious and beautiful.
As a boater I recommend you consider the boating route because in a caravan you are vulnerable to weird site rules like only being allowed to stay in your caravan 11 months a year, not to mention they can one day decide your caravan is too old and you’ll need to buy a new one, plus increasing site fees.

@@CaravanLifeUK little tip, you can pick up a decent broads cruiser which is a fibreglass hull, not steel, for a lot less than a narrowboat, and a fraction of the maintenance costs. Good luck with your caravan life, wishing you all the best with your new chapter in life :)

@@peanutboxes4076 boat life is what I am considering for the very reasons you mention. Any contacts, pages or websites you can suggest would be most appreciated.
Amazing turnaround Ivan. Wise decision on the pension. A roof over your heads and growing food two of the most important things. I'm glad your new home gives you and Ginny both those things. 😊

Lovely of you Thank you so much Sheila
I love your guy's garden. We're thinking of retiring to a caravan when we finally become empty nesters. There simply aren't enough properties out there anyway full stop. The only thing worrying me on it is winter storms. I'm with you though I'd rather OWN a caravan than rent a castle. And caravans are quite comfortable really, so long as you have good neighbors and you seem to have great ones!

My parents had a living caravan years ago when the residential ones were not so well built as today, they had no problems with storms although they lived in an open area near the top of a hill.
Salt of the earth Ivan, I am humbled by your unselfishness.All the best.

Glad I have found your page here. I am facing homelessness and am considering two options, static caravan or canal boat. Have a subscribe and like.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly for yourself and Ginny. We know what it’s like to be renting and have a notification of 8 weeks to leave. Not because we hadn’t paid our rent or owed money to anyone , they just decided to sell up even when we were promised it was going to be a long term rental which only turned out to be only 18 months . Luckily a lovely farming family offered us a rental cottage , the rent is reasonable but it’s a cold cottage with no gas and only electric and the council tax is eye watering because it’s in Yorkshire and in an area of ONB but we’ve been promised we can rent for as long as we like here and thanks to your lovely channel you’ve inspired me to start growing my own vegetables. ❤

Omg Ivan i am so sorry to hear that you have been evicted from your home, that must have been horific. You make this sound so easy and idyllic. Wgat you need to be telling us is that you cant just go and buy a caravan and hope to find a residential site waiting to greet you. Invariably, you have to buy the static from a site that have a plot vacant. If its a used static,you'll be looking at 60k minimum for a decent site. If it a new static, wave goodbye to £150k minimum. Then you have to upgrade your static periodically under the terms of residency. These days, living in a static can be bricks and mortor money.

We did what we had to do in our situation and we will see where it leads Thank you
Of course you can be kicked out you dont own the land it sits on. The site owner can after 10 years can insist you buy a new caravan or remove your old one. The site ownership can change and they may want you off it is one of the most unsecured ways of housing.
@CaravanLifeUK

All sites do vary and some do not have any restrictions it is a shame if the van is in good condition but that is the rules of certain sites
You seriously put on the internet you live in a caravan.
