Except they didn't. Quality control is much higher now than it was then. Most of the SNES's library is unplayable dog shit. People always think of a handful of popular games and think they were representative of the entire library. I mean most of the N64's library was also in the same boat, and that's part of the reason why it was a massive commercial failure.

The boss stage themes was like the first dealings of true stress as a child. When you heard that music it was time to stand up and focus. Boy if we only knew what was waiting for us as we grew up….Man I miss those days.

This reminds me of being at my uncles house in 1988. Spent summers on the dairy farm. Would play this after chores were all done. My very first memory of playing video games. Cherish those family memories. Those are the most important memories a person can have in life.

I could almost smell the plastic of the NES controller just from listening to this.

Of all the 2D games, this was the one I had the most fun playing. Though to be fair I still need to get deeper into SMW.

Thanks for sharing these songs! Many are absolutely iconic. Super nostalgic. Used to play these games for hours until my parents told me to go to sleep, only to repeat it the following day! And repeat them again when I’ve already cleared. The Mario series always gave me a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that many modern video games could not provide. Also nice to see so many people that share their fond memories of these games :)

Koji Kondo is just as much of a legend as Shigeru Miyamoto. Koji's music is just amazing.

Super Mario 2 - Overworld I remember being about 7 years old when this game came out and just fell in love with the music to this game ..... this whole playlist is about 50% of my childhood lol

even 10 years later this is just perfect and brings back best memories ever

Koji Kondo is a master of melodies and these three soundtracks testify to that!

I remember my brother and I receiving the NES for Christmas '87. The first Mario Bros, of course, came with it. I was blown away such an awesome game came with the system! My older sister showed us how to play the thing. All three of these games are so damn iconic. Ah, to be 13 again.

I remember playing "Super Mario Bros"; "Super Mario Bros 2" and "Super Mario Bros 3" on my mom's NES (which we no longer have anymore! 😢) when I was a kid back in the 1990s!

Amazing, I cant even recall what I had for dinner last night yet I remember all of this music from 30 years ago.

These early músics were masterpieces compositions and with so few musical resouces.
