    130kmh is the universal limit in France on motorways (A-coded, crossnational road), 110 is on dual carriageways (N-coded, interdepartmental road) with a hard lane devider, 90 on all other roads outside towns (often D-coded, departmental road).

    Speed limits in France (unless otherwise marked) : Motorways : 130 km/h. Smaller roads : 80 km/h. Towns and villages marked with rectangular place name and red line around : 50 km/h. This ends at the place where town/village ends with rectangular place name and diagonal line over the name. 30 km/h is common local speed limit before a speed bump with no end marking, unless it is repeatedly shown, often with RAPPEL. Permanent speed radars are often marked or painted on trees on the roadside, like : 3, 2, 1, 0. And the radar is there ! Traffic sign ARBRES is a warning for high trunks about trees that can be bent over the road. Then high trucks sometimes have to ride over the center line, to avoid hitting the tree trunks with mirrors or cabin corners.

    Actually, in the Netherlands (I'm not sure if this applies to France.), the lines on each side are meant to emphasize a road's narrowness as those country roads often give the illusion of being a lot wider. Generally, this also means you should stick closer to the middle than usual unless you encounter oncoming traffic.

  • @davithdevries6774

    @davithdevries6774

    Dashed country roads are also quite common in the Netherlands, they are 60kph (40mph) instead of 80 (50). They are usually smaller in width and cyclist also use them, so you have to drive more careful. They often have speed bumps. On 80kmh roads and above, we have separate bicycle roads (with 1+ meter distance to the main road) everywhere.
