Full Salman Rushdie Live in Conversation at The Banff Centre
Sir Salman Rushdie is one of modern literature's most celebrated authors. His new book is "Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights" only bolsters that reputation. He was at The Banff Centre in September 2015, and joined the CBC’s Eleanor Wachtel on stage for this Banff Centre Talk.
Listen to them discuss his new book, the fatwa that took over his life for a decade, and why he’s so fascinated by genies - with many laughs and poignant moments along the way.
Salman Rushdie visited The Banff Centre as a guest of Literary Arts.

Yes freaks like u learn to abuse..begin by abusing ur mother...for if I abused her towing ur line by calling her names..KZread would not give me the same freedom of speech so f off u satanic slave
Have to compliment the interviewer. She is fantastic .What a great talk
What a fascinating mind this guy has ... admirable ....
Absolutely amazing interview. Did Rushdie wipe tears from his eyes after reading that passage? Well I was crying during the reading. Homeless.
A literary super hero in our midst! Adept and articulate in expressing the most intellectually stimulating and thought provoking ideas through his writing...proving the old adage true, the pen is mightier than the sword! Mr. Rushdie, keep up the great work you do! The world needs more literary geniuses like yourself...we especially need more work on exposing the archaic nature and tyranny of the most oppressive and regressive religions of the world. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
his knowledge and his deep conversations are wonderful as his books pretyy long but his talk are amazing..to listening.....wonderful writer....
35:00 "It's a story" So many arguments for the freedom of speech can be summarised with just this sentiment.
what I am so proud of when it comes to salman Rushdie is how proud he is about being Indian and born in Bombay. most indians who make it internationally - - firstly do not have to look typically indian , get absorbed much faster -- usually break up ties from their endianness he could've done a Freddie Mercury who did everything to deny his country of origin but chooses to say he is Indian in origin and with pride. if you ae Indian but don't look it , you tend to have a better chance internationally all the lily sings and priyankas and mindys may have acceptance but always have to fight for their ethnicity because they are constantly reminded of their brownness salman has the easy choice of dissociating from this and he never does. makes me proud .

Beautiful I wish there were many more
A brilliant interview of Mr. Rushdie ! I loved it the way the interviewer did it as well. But I think the lady must not have understood many things of typically Indian origin.......
Here after learning he was stabbed by a "peaceful" person
They chased after Salman, who was feeling about the jungle that is their hearts and souls, torches in their stoney and bloody hands; the fires of their torches did nothing but unveil the horrors and corpuses piled under the trees that are their legacy. Salman emerged to the light.. a sung hero; they emerged not! We, peering from afar, yet up-close, to their faces that are exposed by the very fires they intended to set ablaze the messenger of Light. There, they are still burning inside-out, shouting in the bleak night they hold so dear a captor!
👍👍 mantap haleluya haleluya haleluya haleluya haleluya Yesus Kristus Amen 👍❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
He was stabbed on stage in New York this morning.
He is a balm of reason
Satan Rushdie was always in hiding in the 80s and I just found out he got attacked again and it seems his life was full of fear even now more than ever, it's really fascinating

An intelligent, reasonable man born into a fanatical, violent religion. Its so Unfortunate. His religious leaders have put an enormous price on his head for his writing, and many attempts have been made on his life. . But luckily he is protected by the government. I wish him luck. People of his talent are rare.

Maybe this is conspiracy theory sounding but does anyone really know if they were driven insane waiting for him to say anything interesting and being the only non sycophant to pretend he makes Noam Chomsky look like Jim Jones
I don’t think djinns are amoral in neither islamic tradition nor in thoudand nights or other myths.

yes criticizes on few aspects of Hinduism , but as a devout hindu , I don't mind if any criticism is genuine I will not follow that, Hinduism is not a coded religion Luke abrahmic religions, we back in history used to do dharm shashtrath or debate fiercely 9n philosophy, it's sanatan dharma eternal dharma which flows with time
Really an ignorant is praised in our world today! I am waiting what is coming tomorrow! An atheist does not have meaning to world. I want to be realer in this life then this!
One way to reacquire squandered wealth is to pander and spew up a colossal load of weird versification and vulgarity against a religion to people who you dee[;u know hate it to the core, but pretend not to mind it.
I keep forgetting if he’s a self hating Jew or self hating Muslim or Hindu radical of lighter complexion
People admire this guy but he is probably had twister past. Now he is a one eyed intellectual.

Im a doctor. This person is not an intellectual rather having imbalance of neurons. Engulf by some kind of hallucinations(Schizophrenia) or result of any childhood trauma. The sentiments of any religion should be prevailed by any normal person this is normal persons phenomena. This world have a curiosity to fascinating from taboo. But strange thing is that every religious person praising a person who manipulate other religion.. and organise gentleman's gathering with that person. This is brutal/ruthless behave..... Im strongly condemned any other person who likewise critisize/manipulate Bible or hindu's book. Please spread love peace any do respect to all religions.
