Full Salman Rushdie Live in Conversation at The Banff Centre

Sir Salman Rushdie is one of modern literature's most celebrated authors. His new book is "Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights" only bolsters that reputation. He was at The Banff Centre in September 2015, and joined the CBC’s Eleanor Wachtel on stage for this Banff Centre Talk.
Listen to them discuss his new book, the fatwa that took over his life for a decade, and why he’s so fascinated by genies - with many laughs and poignant moments along the way.
Salman Rushdie visited The Banff Centre as a guest of Literary Arts.

A literary super hero in our midst! Adept and articulate in expressing the most intellectually stimulating and thought provoking ideas through his writing...proving the old adage true, the pen is mightier than the sword! Mr. Rushdie, keep up the great work you do! The world needs more literary geniuses like yourself...we especially need more work on exposing the archaic nature and tyranny of the most oppressive and regressive religions of the world. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

what I am so proud of when it comes to salman Rushdie is how proud he is about being Indian and born in Bombay. most indians who make it internationally - - firstly do not have to look typically indian , get absorbed much faster -- usually break up ties from their endianness he could've done a Freddie Mercury who did everything to deny his country of origin but chooses to say he is Indian in origin and with pride. if you ae Indian but don't look it , you tend to have a better chance internationally all the lily sings and priyankas and mindys may have acceptance but always have to fight for their ethnicity because they are constantly reminded of their brownness salman has the easy choice of dissociating from this and he never does. makes me proud .

They chased after Salman, who was feeling about the jungle that is their hearts and souls, torches in their stoney and bloody hands; the fires of their torches did nothing but unveil the horrors and corpuses piled under the trees that are their legacy. Salman emerged to the light.. a sung hero; they emerged not! We, peering from afar, yet up-close, to their faces that are exposed by the very fires they intended to set ablaze the messenger of Light. There, they are still burning inside-out, shouting in the bleak night they hold so dear a captor!

An intelligent, reasonable man born into a fanatical, violent religion. Its so Unfortunate. His religious leaders have put an enormous price on his head for his writing, and many attempts have been made on his life. . But luckily he is protected by the government. I wish him luck. People of his talent are rare.

The sentiments of any religion should be prevailed by any normal person this is normal persons phenomena. This world have a curiosity to fascinating from taboo. But strange thing is that every religious person praising a person who manipulate other religion.. and organise gentleman's gathering with that person. This is brutal/ruthless behave.....
