Hello Everyone, The SL10 is a brand new route that is operated by London Sovereign RATP from Harrow (SO) using Enviro 400 EV's.
The Superloop route scheme was introduced because of ULEZ, (which I believe is a scam). The route goes from Harrow, Kenton, Kingsbury, Hendon, Finchley and North Finchley.
Other superloop routes that are yet to come are the SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4 and the SL5.
The ones that are already here are the ones that were renumbered in July-August 2023 such as the SL6, SL7, SL8 & SL9 that were formally the X68, X26, 607 & X140 (in order). If anything X68 & 607 didn’t need renumbering because they are not orbital routes anyways; they are radial routes but hey it is what it is with TFL. I wish that they kept the name of the route as X183 or even named it X125, it would have made it look more professional and it would have also given it character that it is the express bus service of the 183 & the 125.
The route goes by quite fast, but it feels long through. The driver had alright speeds throughout the route which is good. I think this is the only superloop route, other than SL9 that I think would actually benefit from the scheme. The good thing about this route imo is that I can get to Brent Cross from Harrow very quickly by changing buses at Hendon, which links North West London very well. The others not so. The bus was partially branded, the name & stops were not yet put on.
Unfortunately, the 183 has had a PVR cut, so travelling between Pinner to Harrow would be more difficult and even longer to wait for buses between that area. What also makes it even worse is the fact that H19 is now terminating at Kymberley Road. At least 395 will be terminating within Harrow Bus Station. What I do find annoying is that there was no consultation on the 395 & H19 swap. I feel that the mini change was kinda dictated ngl.
I also do know that the 223 got extended today, I will be covering the extension in a few weeks. I think they extended 223 now, to make space for SL10 stands as the HBS stands would be extremely full to the brim.
Route 112 will now set down passengers at stop K on Ballards Lane instead of stop Z4 on North Finchley High Road. Buses will also pick up from stop E on North Finchley High Road instead of from bus stop P in the bus station. Route 112 will no longer serve the bus stops within North Finchley Bus Station.
I already see the following issues with the routes starting point towards North Finchley:
The route starts at Bus Stop (E) that is located at the very back of the station, (Just by the entrance of HBS).
Superloop routes are seen as demanding. So with this route, the bus would have a longer boarding time, compared to the 114, 183, 223 and other terminating buses. It takes at least 5-8 min for people to Board SL9 alone.
So by this route starting at Bus Stop (E), there will be an overwhelming amount of traffic of buses and cars behind along Kymberley Road and College Road. I've observed this happen with 183 when it stops there and 114 as well.
The SL10 should've started at Bus Stop (C), because it is within the station, not at the edge and buses that start at C mainly go towards Northwick Park Station, Northwick Park Hospital and Kenton anyways. H19 should start at Bus Stop (E) instead.
