FULL REVIEW || Is the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage the best one yet??

Simply put: the 2021 version of the Mitsubishi Mirage is the best one yet. While the car is still the slowest of the slow, and the 3-cylinder 78hp engine still leaves MUCH to be desired, the 2021 Mirage now comes standard with forward-collision mitigation, automatic high beams and a 7” touchscreen. Mitsubishi also updated the front and rear of the Mirage, giving it a much-needed boost in the looks department: an hourglass shape chrome design now flanks the front between LED lights (on our SE trim), while the body panel molding out back has also been updated and thick black lines now surround each taillight housing. The Mirage also loses the GT trim level for 2021, and instead adds what Mitsubishi calls the Carbonite Edition, which is the third priciest model (ES, LE, Carbonite Edition, SE). The Mirage is simple and affordable A to B transportation free of fuss, drama or extra cost. And it’s 39MPG combined fuel economy is nothing to shake a stick at. But is more green in your pocket a good enough trade off for a whiny, wheezing engine and lackluster acceleration? You be the judge.

Most reviews trash this car but owners tend to really like them.

Well, the shaking is just the nature of 3 cylinder engine. It’s perfectly normal for any 3 cylinder. It’s a cool little car with low operating cost and long warranty. Perfect for folks looking for reliable and economic transportation.

I own a 2018. Love the car. Have put 64k and no major repairs except regular oil change, replaced brake and other fluids. Great car to save on fuel

19,000 for 80 hp? Embarassing. THin tires, massive body roll. I wouldn't give 19,000 dollars for this. 10,000 dollars yes.

Every small gas sipper since the Yogo has been trashed by the American Car Press. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is driving this car and others like it almost exclusively. But of course the rest of the world is wrong and America knows better.

Even if my car went 0-60 in 3 sec, I'd still get to work at the same time, since I'm always in rush hour traffic the 0-60 means nothing to me.

These youtube "reviewers" dont ever get what the mirage is. Its inexpensive safe economical transportation to get you where you need to go with modern amenities and decent looks and every person ive talked with that owns one loves em! I was going to buy one myself back in 2018 but got an incredable deal on a 2017 nissan versa note leftover that it was just too good to pass up.

Great review. Nice updates. Great little cars. Critics just hate small, affordable cars. They are all on the crossover/suv craze. I like not having a $400 a month car payment along side $300 in gas.

This is a TRUE COMPACT hatchback. This is the equivalent of what the Civic's were back in the 80s and early 90s before they became another big sedan.

Lot of ppl complain on the steering not return to center position after a turn, but i love the steering response, it feels heavy and stable at high speed.

Love the color. The seat material is beautiful and looks very premium for a small car. I have owned 5 Mitsubishis and 2 of them were Mirages. I owned a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT and a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE CVT and absolutely loved them, great cars, super reliable, feature packed and fun and unique. I now own a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL Touring with S-AWC I got new in October 2019. Ever since I switched to Mitsubishi in 2015 I am hooked. I have owned new Chevys, a Hyundais and Kias but when I made the switch in 2015 to Mitsubishi I just loved their cars and I really like their simplicity and reliability. They use time tested and proven platforms, engines and CVTs instead of changing things every couple years they do interior and exterior updates on the same underpinnings keeping the cars reliable. Keep it up!

The Mitsubishi Mirage is the econo vw beetle of the present time. Owning one makes a lot of sense then, makes more sense now for as long as you manage your expectations.

The 4 wheel version of a scooter. It’s small, plenty of storage, fuel efficient, excels in town/city roads, can be taken on the highway. Agree the front and rear styling is a HUGE improvement. The red stripe on the front reminds me of the first and second generation VW GTI.

I have the 2015 1.2 CVT Intense (almost top of the line) with a lot of options. 60.000 miles now. Zero problems. Only 6 tyres and 7 wiper blades. That's it. I do 50 miles to a gallon as the lifetime average. It serves me well. I was in a mountainous area with a fully laden Mirage. Then it struggles to accelerate quickly enough from stand still uphill. But doing 80 miles an hour for hours on the German autobahn was possible on cruise control, even on the uphill sections. I see why Mitsubishi upgraded the model. It looks nicer. But I still like the old models better. They were more faithful to the original (minimalistic and economic) concept. The 2021 Mirage is a bit heavier, has a bit more air resistance, is even slower and consumes substantially more fuel than the original ones did.
