I did similar , used "Gorilla 18-ounce Wood Glue" , used galvanized plastic sheets as protective covering , unfortunately the bat did last for only couple of training sessions.

I dont know where you from , but for us its mixing glue, it has two parts call hardner and resine, so we have to mix it accordingly ,

The wood you’ve used for filling in, is a very cheap wood, the bat is repaired and looks good on the camera, but in Actual this will break ery easily.

@@MightyCricket after you have sanded the bat down and are finishing it off you rub a white substance into it from about 9:40 in the video. I think it is some sort of polish but not 100% sure. Thanks.

Steel polishing compound mix with bee wax , if you are not using a polishing machine , its always recommended to melt the mixer before you use it .
