How could they exclude Jota. To be honest, if this was the plan, they should have worked with Jota, Bruno and Bernado and take off Leao. Their game lacked balance. Essentially, go left to use the flank and cross... while the right is in a huge mess. The balance was not right for the team. Ronaldo was isolated a lot. Jota could have played with him, and it would have had more movement in the box. Portugal were horrible when it came to crosses.

France at the EUROs so far: 3 goals 2 of them were own goals, 1 was a penalty and they recently beat Portugal on penalties and have made the semifinals without scoring an actual goal from open play. This is a damning statistic considering the plethora of attacking talent that they have at their disposal. At the end of the day, they won’t care because they’re doing their job which is to win games and that’s all that matters even though the performance wasn’t pretty and they haven’t been scoring enough goals. A key factor in their success has been the solidarity of their defense as they haven’t conceded a goal from open play and being robust at the back makes them a difficult team to break down and that alone has masked up their lack of goals going forward. Under Deschamps, they don’t always play some of the most attractive attacking football as he’s pragmatic and takes a cautious approach to the game and at times they don’t play well, regardless of that they always find a way to do well in major tournaments and he has them on the brink of another final even though they haven’t scored an actual goal. They didn’t even have to be the best team. In these sort of games they’re comfortably in sitting back and letting the other team have the ball and this is how they’ll probably play against Spain. Going into the semifinals, many people think that Spain are going to beat them easily and they’re being treated as underdogs since they’re going up against the best team of the tournament and they have been a far better side than them, France are a team who has a lot of quality as you can’t write them off and they have a brilliant defense and their luck will eventually run out if they don’t start scoring goals as playing like this can work even though it won’t always be sustained for them, I wouldn’t if they knock them out.

Actually when u play Ronaldo you need to cross a ball to him. The gen z wingers had so much possession but would fake a cross then pull back, or pass back, or hold ball turn and lose ball. If they insisted on playing Ronaldo, he needed to have a better supporting cast like Bruno, Bernado, Jota. The wing play and poor crosses rendered Ronaldo ineffective. Maybe then he should come off, if you don't alter.

I'm a neutral.I don't hate any footballer just want to see a good game.I think CR7 knows himself he is not as good as he was but for Martinez not to take him off against France was a big mistake and cost Portugal the game IMO.

France doesn’t need many chances to put the ball in the back of the net. Other teams could dominate time of position, have superb ball control, score a goal and still lose to France. It’s going to take everything they have and more to beat France. People have to realize France is about winning, not playing for entertainment.
