Our history is similar! I don't know your particular ethnicity (which Latin American country you represent) but as someone who ALSO has Native American ancestry as well, the thoughts of what my ancestors had to endure on BOTH ends (African and Native American) is enough to make anyone infuriated. For that reason, I do not acknowledge "holidays" like Columbus day or Thanksgiving. We as POCs who are the FOUNDATIONAL groups of the Americas (that have endured a brutal history since 1492) have a DUAL consciousness (W.E.B DuBois reference) that other ethnic groups may not necessarily understand (especially those who did not come to America until the Ellis Island era or later).

Because she’s more conservative and doesn’t see herself as a victim or oppressed. That’s the difference between them. One dwells in victim hood and is angry. The other sees America for what it really is and appreciates her country for allowing her the success she’s had. If I grew up thinking everyone was against me for my skin color and that all whites are against me, I’d be angry too! But that’s a cultural thing, NOT a race issue. If your friends and family and community teach you at a young age that you’re oppressed, and that the world is against you because of your skin color, then they failed you and set you up for failure. Alllllll to do with culture, NOTHING to do with race.

@@hennylo68 I’m all for that. Express yourself. What I do not like is people bashing this country like they haven’t benefited in some way. It is the most racially tolerant and economically superior country out there. What’s amazing to me is how some people make their wealth or standard of living here, thanks to freedom and capitalism, and then do a 180 and say this country is this and that or racist and phobic and whatever. Like, people that say that have no clue what the rest of the world is like. And I’m not defending this based on what I personally see, my own empirical experience. If you actually look up data and numbers, you’d see that this is all true. Someone having a bad upbringing and them bashing the country has nothing to do with the actual country and more so with decisions made by their parents, and the person itself later in life.

Tamera identifies as bi-racial more so than being a Black woman. But, I hope she recognizes how lost she'll be if she doesn't understand her to identity- socially (in society), racially and culturally. Socially - Black Woman Racially - Mixed Race (Black & White) Culturally - Understanding where you belong and where you are accepted which there's a difference.

@@_cup_of_tea Hmm I don't think so. She has mentioned on the show that she never got to know her dad's (who is white) side of the family because they didn't agree with her dad marrying a black woman (her mom). She culturally identifies as a black woman.. that is all she knows. However, yes she is a biracial woman. On top of that, her father is white, her husband is white, and her kids (well at least Aden) can probably physically pass for white in society -- so there may be some black issues she cannot really identify with, and understandably so.

I see a few comments saying that black women have a reason to come off as "angry" and I must respectfully disagree with those statements. I went on a weekend trip to New York with my husband recently and had a very unpleasant encounter with a black woman. I went to use a public restroom and had to pee so bad that I did not see/pay attention that there was a line up; I proceeded to open the restroom door; the black woman in the line started yelling and was so rude to me. The funny thing is, there was a white woman in front of her, who's place in line I would have been taking; she was not rude at all. I calmly apologized and went to the back of the line. I don't know if it's because the she was black or if it's because she's a New Yorker or maybe it was just that specific woman that has no home training, but she was extremely and unnecessarily rude. If she had simply said, "excuse me, there's a line up miss," it would have been enough. As a BLACK CANADIAN WOMAN MYSELF, I actually rarely experience this in Canada. I was genuinely shocked, disgusted and embarassed at the way this woman acted. We choose how we behave, no matter the colour of our skin and no matter how other's view us; how we present ourselves to others is our doing. And it's what we have to live with. I understand that the racial atmosphere in the U.S is different from that of Canada, but I believe that anyone can make a conscious choice to behave with class and intergity; if not for your ethnicity then do it even more so for your own dignity.

I think she’s just a naturally quiet person and has trouble finding where her voice fits when there are a lot of speakers, when they first started she had t fight to speak up, Loni & Amanda dominated this conversation pretty much

I like Amanda’s point of view in terms of women being educated but I can’t stand her personality.

Things are getting better, times are changing. Kids these days of all colors have many benefits to reap as well as being more accepted than in any time in history ! Less to be angry about ladies and more to rejoice! Nothing is perfect yet guess what, it never will be. But it will continue to improve to the point it doesn't need to be a talk show topic.

I truly think Loni has one of the kindest hearts... but energy is energy you can tell when someone’s over something and hey that’s fine but let’s not sugar coated. 🙂
