Full pace into Mini 6.50 race season - Ep130 - The Sailing Frenchman

The 2020 racing season has been quite impacted by covid and once races could resume, the schedule was busy. Just time to finish a race, clean and fix the boat, take it to the next port and start preparing for the next race.
Busy schedule for sure but really nice to hang out with other sailors, always in a different port, but with the same goal : be the fastest once on the water!

What a crazy start of the video with all the masting techniques. And here I am, paying like a sucker a lot of money to the marina just to lift it up real quick, bring her down, have me put on two screws and then put it back in......

For a Junk-Rig the book I have suggests fixing an A-frame to each beam, and lifting it out that way. My mast has about 2 meters bury, with the COG being about 3m above deck, so it wouldn't have to be a huge construction, although I didn't try it yet.

I used an A-frame to do the Chicago-Mobile section of the Great Loop, singlehanded. Easy! (The A-frame, that is.) It’ll be bigger than you thought, & must be rigged bomb-proof.

Hello from Hamburg, Germany. Throughout the lockdown(s) I have been discovering a lot of KZread channels about different ways of travelling and seeing the world. (Well, different than what I usually do. ) I have found a love of sailing videos and now watch many sailing channels, (including yours). Markus, (my partner in crime), grew up in a sailing family and has thousands of hours at sea, but even though we have been together for 15 years now, I have NEVER been on a sailboat! I hope to change that in 2021 if the situation in the world allows it. :-)
