They won't last very long either! Great for track though. Not wanting to get you down but be careful. Cheers

@Thecraig909 you could swap in disc from a late 70's ford truck. Basically you drop the whole front suspension from one in the junk yard and swap it into yours. There's king pin differences in the later years so it's easiest to just swap the whole thing. If you wanted a cheap disc swap, while keeping the FAT tires/Wheels.

You should take it back to the strip to try to run a faster time. I know the tires are a harder compound than drag slicks BUT it would probably be better than those Cobras you were running before.

10:27 your describing bump steer. After you replace the kingpins and get everything properly tight and it's still doing it. Look for a way to drop your tie rod to wherever they connect to the lower part of the knuckle or whatever you got on the truck. My fox has this issue even after I've done a full 95 front knuckle swap and replaced my bushings. It just has to do with the geometry of the tie rods.

Back in the '80s ( yeah I know , ancient history ) one of the hot rod magazines did a skid pad test with a new Corvette . After the test with the factory wheels and tires they switched to NASCAR wheels and tires . They actually lost grip . They said because the suspension wasn't set up for the tires.

Love the look, and if someone hasn't said it already, your harder steering is coming from an excessive positive scrub radius. In a perfect world you would want the imaginary line from the upper ball joint to the lower ball joint, or in your case, through the king pin to touch the ground in the middle of the tire. Since ford deigned this suspension for a 5.5 to maybe a 7 inch wide, and you would have the tire touch the frame if you went with more back spacing it will never be perfect. But god damn does that thing look aggressive!

295/50R15 is very close to the same size as your racing tires. 10" tread width and 26" tall. I put them on my '66 F100 20 years ago, bitchin stance. If you are doing King pins look at swapping out for the '73-'79 1/2 ton axles found at any junkyard, and you'll get disc brakes, grab the master cylinder, booster and proportioning valve. Pull the the entire front end, radius arms, I beams, rotors, calipers. It's a quick cheap alternative to after market. I did this to my '66 as well. You can swap the F-250's as well for the guys with 8 lug trucks with drum brakes

and fun fact. You can run a 15. I have 15x6 weld draglites for mine. You need a 1" spacer. I got mine through American Muscle for about 90$. The issue is the face of the caliper, not the overall diameter. The 12" rotor + 4 " of space is theoretical. Experimental depends on the wheel. The face of the caliper sits farther out than the mounting surface on the rotor. The 1" spacer fixes that, and also makes the track width the same front to back, at least it does on my chassis swapped 72
