they used to do that alot in the 80s and early 90s. that's why there is a controversy regarding Antonio Inoki winning the WWF Title, the WWF Martial Arts Title and The Light Heavyweight title were all defended outside WWF/E.

It's something they've done in the past as Steven said, and another big part of it actually being on the line in ICW is because ICW is considered one of WWE's "proving grounds" along with Progress. That being said, ICW is one of my favorite companies so I love seeing stuff like this. Their not directly tied to WWE, or run by anyone from WWE. They are their own seperate company, but a lot of WWE talent in the recent past have came from ICW. It was also probably required that Pete retain.

Adam Cole defended and retained the NXT Championship against Akira Tozawa in the main event of Evolve Wrestling’s 10th Anniversary. The event aired LIVE on WWE Network.

Tbh if you think of it, it's a great time to be a wrestling fan. Indy wrestlers are making names for themselves outside of WWE, wrestlers can finally keep their names in WWE, and a lot of new great talent are growing.

I'm super impressed with Pete Dunne. But this match was really an eye opener for how good Trent Seven is. He's been kinda overlooked since Dunne and Bate are so great, but he's good in his own right. I was severely unamazed with B.T. Finn and Wolfgang. They are very meh in the ring. Decent match though.

Pete Dunne is an amazing athlete, and one hell of a wrestler. He's gonna be an amazing champion, and an amazing superstar when HHH takes over. This match was pretty okay. The commentators had to cover for BT Gunn a few times, but I don't like criticizing these guys because their all infinitely more talented than I am.

Best match I've ever seen live!

King Crss well he's only just recently won it and a few weeks ago came to WWE to show up Enzo on Raw. give it time. plus you can't really defend the title in a place that has no UK based superstars (albeit a few in WWE as of now).

Great fucking match. BT Gunn really impressed me here, same for the other three but Gunn stands out to me in this match. Glad he won the Zero G Title to make the Grand Slam, I hope he wins the Square Go next year or something to get him in the main event again. I wanna see him be a World Champion

This was not a clean looking match at all and they over used alot of spots. Still a good match, but all the try hards screaming THIS IS WRESTLING! BETTER THAN WWE! Bitch this is WWE. They made this happen.

This announcer is garbage but very good match tho

It's all a slowly growing plan. They do plan on doing a weekly show, but they're also going to put ICW and Progress on the Network as well. Of course the last bit is just rumors, but they're VERY likely to be true.

you do know its really complicated to do that kinda stuff right? give them time, i mean look at NJPW they are trying the same in the usa and only had those two specials. in fact wwe and njpw are doing the same thing at the moment. anyways for now the uk titel belongs to icw, progress and nxt and i think ott wrestling too. i find this whole thing fucking awesome and it shows once again that when hunter takes the wwe over he will change things to the better.

Is it sad though? If ICW is seen as a path to NXT, isn't it going to result in ICW having a better selection of talent from which to choose? I'd love to see ICW and Progress get more mainstream exposure in exchanging for hosting the WWE UK title. If this partnership works, and there's no reason to expect that it won't, then in the future we could see more regional championships around the world. WWE India Championship, WWE China Championship, WWE Canadian Championship. (I think Lance Storm still has a WCW one they can borrow.)
