Really great video. No super complicated way of doing things. Fast and thorough and professional done from start to finish in 45 min to 1hr. One of the least complicated redrafting methods. Seems to be a new shop space and quite new machinery in comparison with many I have seen so far.. The machinery the cobbler in my town uses is quite antiquated but then the bag pipe chanter red make has machinery that looks as if it came FM the beginning of the Industrial revolution...which it probably did. Whatever it takes to get the job done and without discarding functional items without my need has been my way to go. I also marvel at what trades people and craftspeople can do. You are a fine example of your craft.

Mr. Tring, my Dad had a shop in the Mid Hudson River Valley of New York for 55 yrs. I helped him from the age of about 8 until I was out of high school in 1964 (yeah, I am 3 days older than dirt)...I watched you go through a very familiar routine...It was so much the same. The big stitcher he used was called a McKay stitcher. The flax thread was pulled through a hot bees wax bath just before being used to sew on the soles...the welting was done by hand. You do nice work...I swear I could smell the contact cement from here just south of Chicago...

Those Churches shoes if you wanted to Purchase them new today would set you back £530.00 they are Chetwynd Brogues. So a good repair is well worth the money spent, I have just 2 pairs of Churches currently, my first pair were some Diplomat semi-brogues i bought back in 1983, i had them for about 20 years and had them properly repaired 3 times. I liked them so much I bought another pair, but such a difference in price over those 20 years £85.00 in 83, and £310.00 in 2010, now they are around £530.00 if i were to buy another pair. My other pair are Loafers and are super comfy!

Awesome craftsmanship! Back in the day, I could never get a decent repair on leather soled shoes (Loakes, Grensons or Churches), you knew that the customer had worn in the uppers and you worked with that (the whole point of buying decent, UK made shoes, that are intially an investment). Truly skilled, sympathetic work, it must be very rewarding, lots of happy customers.

you've done a beautiful job. I'm not sure about the outer foot of those shoes. I've got a couple of pairs of Churches I've had for thirty years and the outer foot hasn't creased like that. Maybe you should sell the owner some shoe trees!

Happy days I worked at Barrett’s shoe factory for a period of time in the 60,s men’s welted leather sole shoes made on oak and beech lasts (incidentally when factory closed they all went up in smoke ,some famous people had their own individual lasts ,)can still smell the leather now!
