I believe it was awkward-fu style. So awkward your target doesn't want to make it any more awkward by resisting. Works best with an audience.

The problem with 90% of the instant induction videos is that they never show you what comes first. The subject has OBVIOUSLY already been put under so why is that never mentioned? Id like to see a real instant induction of a person who has never before been hypnotized.

With a shock induction like this, you really don't need to do any prep ahead of time. As this is a demonstration, chances are that people were pre-hypnotized, but again, not necessary. On youtube, you can find instant inductions done on random people in the street. Look up 'Hypno Sculpture' where a dude asks for directions and then goes straight into the handshake induction and then turning them into human statues as he walks away. I highly recommend not doing that as it's a form of assault and hypnotizing someone without their permission is a jerk move anyway. But since this guy has already done these vids years ago, you can at least benefit by seeing how effective the technique is, even without hypnotizing them ahead of time.

as a certified hypno therapist, i can tell you this is what an instant induction looks like, i usually do it when they are sitting down, you distract their focus with talk or counting down, or whatever, but the suggestion "sleep" the body remembers subconsciously and they slip directly into hypnosis, you then deepen it by adding suggestions, lifting their arm, etc. but this is how its done, and i dont know if you have tried it yourself, but maybe you should go and try it yourself. It didnt work for me the first couple of times I tried it, because I had a traumaresponse with people raising their voice or what feels like being ordered, but after a couple of times, I slipped right into hypnosis, because I was invited to let go by the "sleep" suggestion. no need to be prepared in any way, its more important after that you deepen the hypnosis.

For some reason, I don't like rapid induction. Dave Elman induction is really pleasant one.

Rapid inductions are great if you have someone who is a little too logical and/or skeptical. The shock of it can put them in trance before their logical brains can figure out what's coming next. So you can bypass resistance right off the bat. But nothing wrong with the Elman induction at all.
