Greetings from Hungary! The welsh and hungarian history has a lot in common, especially when we talk about foreign occupation… In the 19th century, after the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-49, Emperor Franz Joseph asked of our poets (János Arany) to write a “praise-poem” about him, and he wrote one called “The bards of Wales”. The poem is a metaphor for the Habsburg rule over Hungary. In the ballad Edward I visits the newly conquered Wales and demands the bards to praise him, but every single one of them sings about his tyranny. Later the king sends 500 bards to death, but he becomes crazy beacuse of the remorse.

1:04:00 they did NOT style themselves as princes in subservience to England. Prince is short for princep as in governor in Latin. This enraged the British and it meant king of kings for the welsh. So far this is the only mistake I have found in the entire video up to this point. Good job!

Tiny (possible) correction at 1:04:10 when it is stated that the use of “Prince” was a sign of a defiance because it is derived from Princeps in Latin and would connote a status above just a king of a region. Once Cymru was fully taken over, the title’s meaning was changed from “the first man” to essentially “first in line”. I could be wrong but this is the way I’ve seen the evolution of “Prince of Wales” explained before in some sources (Edited time stamp) (Second edit) I think this is also backed up by the recorded and translate word/speech starting 1:11:30

Thank you I learned a lot about my hen daid’s country’s history of Cymru. I didn’t know that when I was 5 Cymraig went from 1/4 to 1/3 people were speaking the language at the start of the 21st fentury(2001-2100 two thousand and one/twenty-oh-one to twenty-one-hundred). Twenty-oh-one will be more common by 2101 as no one said ‘one thousand and one but ten oh one for 1002)

Kings and Generals: You recently did a series on an Alternate world about thr Mongols invading Central Europe. It was a great story. Can I offer a suggestion on a “what if” scenario if Alexander had not died at 33. We knew he had plans for Arabia, Carthage and Rome. A fictitious series on this would be amazing

Hey man, I recently had the urge to play as a welsh character and ended up framing the campaign as if I was a descendant of magnus maximus. I reconquered Britain for the welsh then conquered western europe and renamed the empire title to western roman empire and gave it a nice map colour lmao.

"The Red Dragon of Cadwaladr" does not exist. The flag was first used by Henry Tudor, and was inspired by Owain's golden dragon, and a possibly used Red Dragon on black background design, which followed the tale of Dinas Emrys. He added the green and white to symbolise the Tudor Rose in the flag's colours. The myth of Cadwaladr using a red dragon flag is extremely subscribed too, considering no accounts from Cadwaladr's reign describe him ever flying such a flag.

The last speaker only spoke cornish and no English but they was lots that spoken both and they ate forgotten as cornish was still spoken by fisherman in the late 19th century and by 1920s the revival began and there are now over a 1000 fluent and 1000s that speak some cornish and we fought two big battles against England in the C15 and C16 as my 15th great grandad had his head chopped off for one of the battles for attacking London. Also cornwall has the oldest boundary in uk between England and Cornwall in 937 and vikings help Cornwall to fight England aswell but didn't take us over
