I miss this era of rugby. It was a great balance of moderate rules and immense heart. The kind of rugga I played in my youth.

Conrad Smith is a bloody gem 💎
Brilliant. The dangerous head highs by the Bok in the first 20 minutes or so-the forward pass in the 2nd half and the Captains try. Fabulous try to finish.

Awesome game! Its amazing how the game has changed in 10 years! Saw a few neck rolls in rucks , no arms smashes in some faces when cleaning out, things you wouldn't get away with now days, is it me or was the game a bit more brutal then 😂

JM stole that quote from Graeme Hughes commentating on Garry Freeman in a NZ vs Australia rugby league test.
This game got me, two kiwi mates, and a South African friend stayed up BBQ and few drinks till 04:00 discussing and analyzing! It was a controversial, but in the end, none of us was a loser! A few errors from the ruling committee, but all in all was a game to remember for me and my friends!
Epic game. Goes to show how important fitness is, as Springboks definitely faded in last 10 minutes and Blacks pushed hard. Legendary players on both sides, but for me Nonu is an all time great centre, for me the best ever, and he showed it at the end there. Dan Carter also on top form bar a couple of missed kicks. I forgot how good he was!

"Don't you EVER celebrate like that before putting the ball down !!" 😂😂😂 If you know, you know.
SA players not rolling and playing ball on ground. 11 years later... Nothing changes
Beginning of the All Black ascendant era. SA were always the hardest to beat up until 2015 and then England and Ireland started to emerge as genuine rivals.
The mix of skill and powerful players the abs used to have was very effective
Please. I want Scoot Robertson to be come an all blacks coach. New Zealana I want the all blacks to be number 1 in the world.
I find it interesting that McCaw's try would, arguably, have been a penalty try under modern laws as Burger's(?) tackle was high (above the shoulder height) and therefore a penalty offence. Of course, it WAS all started by a forward pass so.... ;) Sometimes I forget how good McCaw was at rugby!

Wow, this brand of rugby is outrageously different from todays modern game. Whether you like it or not, pod formations add a certain level of clarity to attack, although sometimes they are predictable. I’m not saying ones better than the other but it’s interesting.
Yesterday I watched that 100th test match and I'm struck by how different the enforcement of the rules is. Some of the rules are different, too, but mostly I think it's enforcement. I like it better this way.
Applying current rules there could have been 3 (at least) yellow cards in the first few minutes...possibly red after 20 replays each, with the cleaning lady being asked to contribute :-)

Nah, SA were totally in it until the last 10. They played a great game, awesome defence and some great attacking moves as well. I felt sorry for the centurion, but not for the team. They played well, just not well enough. I've never much liked SA's type of play, though. It's a game, not war. I particularly don't like their current approach of having someone stand to the side of a ruck so they block any charge down on the kicker. That should be obstruction, but no ref blows them up on it.

The two greatest rugby nations ever. Sa were not in first 2 rwcs. However the abs were the best team in 95. Aus the best in 99, England you were lucky 2003, 07 should have been nz vs sa, however well done sa. 2011 sa hard done by and cheated out of cup.... 2015 abs the best. 2019 well done SA. Love you guys. All in all , Abs and Sa all the way.
It's not so much the Boks in this game were good at regaining their kicks. It that Petersen and Habana were leaping up in the way of the AB receiver, but not actually going for the ball, and the resulting mess was capitalized on the the ground troops coming forward.
That high pitched whine that comes and goes drives me mad
