I couldn't help but notice that so many reviews about the 1DX, especially when talking and comparing the 5D III, never mentions that a 1D series camera applies more power to the focus motors in the higher end L lens', therefore giving it even more boost in focus performance. This is in part why I have a 1DX, timing is so critical in many situations.

Isn't the power dependent on the motor control by the lense? It's not Nikon old days with the screw AF motor in camera

@@mostlymessingabout no the batteries are higher voltage so the lens motors run faster

@dudekaus The audio lag seems to be on the viewer end. We have reviewed this on a very basic PC in Firefox and are not experiencing any lag. Please try closing some windows and/or restarting your browser. Thank you for watching.

Both the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Canon EOS 1D X can be controlled remotely from a computer using the Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software included with the camera.

The 5d MK III and the 1DX do they have good image stability? Do they also have auto focus when shooting video? Is it also possible to remotely control what the camera is does? As for recording time can you get more time out of it if you record to a computer or no? I ask because I'm a severe weather storm spotter up here in Central Minnesota. I found this neat gadget that allows you to mount a camera on top of your vehicle inside of a dome. thank you for your time

If you are looking for a full-frame camera for professional use, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera would be recommended for your needs. Does the 5d MK III or the 1DX have auto focus in video mode? Also could it record more if the camera was hooked to say a computer for recording or no? Also what is the image stabilization like in both cameras. is one better than the other? I ask all these question is because I am a severe weather spotter here in Central Minnesota, and I am looking this new device that is now out there its called a meso dome for mounting a camera inside this dome and it sits on top of your vehicle.

Several years ago Canon commented to us that the tempered glass they use on their LCD's of their DSLR's is strong enough such that no sort of LCD protection is further required. I also find them to be very durable. Many users however are keen on further protecting their investment. Yossi O.

The 5d 3 has tempered glass LCD screen. Does it need a screen protector?

How does the 5D MK III do in shooting video? Can it do long periods of video as long as it is plugged into an external power source and its in a cool enviroment?

There is a "manual" auto focus if you just hold the shutter button halfway down in video mode, but this isn't a reliable system for live focusing. I have found myself using it just to double check that the image is still in focus instead of zooming in.

Also can you remotely control the camera?

Informative presentation. Video improvement in 5D3 over 5D2 is questionable

im replace my t3i with a sony a77 soon, specs wise i think the a77 is better than the 7D. any advice?

Too hard. Even the Mark IV didn’t had it 😆

From the Canon Website: "The Canon EOS-1D X also includes manual audio level control, adjustable both before and during movie recording, an automatic setting, or it can be turned off entirely. A wind filter is also included. Sound can be recorded either through the internal monaural microphone or via an optional external microphone through the stereo mic input."

The Gigabit Ethernet specifies a max distance of 100m between point-to-point, can the 1DX really do 1000 ft (300m) as quoted?

What about the 1D C ?

That multi-spot-metering on the 1D X is pretty awesome. Drool.

Good old times... I’m scary to eve think about how they will enslave is in 2022....

What one should I buy the Canon 1DX or 5D MK11 for overall photography? I like to shot in low light, back light, etc, I don't care about video that much, I do mostly still shots, not much action shots. Reply

It seems the 1D has a lower megapixel count, so better in low light. I use a Sony, the ISO performance is superior and the Zeiss lenses are sharper. Canon has amazing colour and an artistic quality. Both are great tools.

Personally, I think the 6d and 5d mark ii are the best in low light situations all around

you cant stream the video into a video app though, sad

Yke van Leeuwen No. I just got done using my mk3 for shooting in freezing rain for over an hour. You'll be fine.

I heard the pixels don't really matter. You can make a giant print with just a 16MP camera. You just have to set your exposure and settings correctly and thats it.

I want to buy a 1Dx or a 5DMKIII but both are 2 years old now, wait for the 1DxMK2 or 5dMKIV?

Can someone explain why Canon has made the top-of-the-range 1DX with only 18MP, whilst the 5D & 6D are 22 and 20MP respectively? Surely making it 24MP would give it a stronger position in the market place, not to mention high value practicality.

it is actually higher MP than the competing Nikon D4, but still shoots more frames per second than the D4, there are 2 main reasons it is kept at 18 mp, it makes it possible to shoot at 14fps, also it has better ISO performance than something that is 24mp, that is why the Nikon D800 isn't as good with ISO as a 5D mark lll, and only shoots 4 fps not 6fps, everything with cameras is a compromise depending on what they are trying to achieve, with the 1DX Canon wanted super fast fps and great ISO

No protecting required. It's like if you are a healthy person, why should you pay health insurances? You could save a lot of money instead of supporting the insurance companies. But if you abuse your equipment like many that I see, then it's helpful to have the screen protector :o)

Neither of them can autofocus while shooting. You can autofocus in live view before you hit record, but once you hit record its manual only
